I think the commercial is hilarious. I was never a big fan of their music, but I don't understand why so many people like to jump on the bandwagon and trash it. You're not a fan of Hootie and the Blowfish's music. We get it.

That's an annoying habit of most music listeners. There is nothing more annoying than music snobs who feel like they have to spend every breath trashing music that's not hip because they're bitter their college band never got a contract.

Hey, it's because you're ugly and your band sucked mandice.

I, for one, can deal w/ my favoirite *insert something* not being taken seriously. But when people jump on a bandwagon to trash a band just because its cool to do so...that's crap. Like, for instance, at the height of Hootie's popularity, the BUZZ thought it was so freakin cool to advertise that no Hootie is played on their station...yeah watever  And that's one of the reasons I stopped liking the BUZZ so much.

dude, i think people can make fun of someone wearing a purple suit and cowboy hats singing about chicken sandwiches. i am pretty sure there would be widespread rioting if someone like paul mccartney was doing this ad campaign...the reaction might be different--but plain and simple anyone that does this commercial deserves to be mocked.

I'm just grateful for the commercial given Google an oppurtunity to run a "Bacon Cheddar Potato Soup" recipe ad at the bottom of the page. You bet your sweet ass I'm clicking on that one! Thanks Hootie!

Yeah, they still play in front of large crowds ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 depending on the venue. It looks like they'll be playing larger ampitheatres in the summer.

For those who still like their music, the new album which is expected to be released in July was produced by Don Gehman. He's the man who was behind Cracked Rear View. Like Musical Chairs it seems they will dabble in various styles. They wrote one song "Autumn Jones" with country band Trick Pony. Another one was penned with Babyface.

From what i've heard this album will sound somewhat CRV-ish. Producer Don Was, who headed up their 03 release really hurt their sound. He made everything bleed together (Which you never see on a major studio release), and stripped the songs down to nothing. That won't be the case this time around. It'll be an all around better album. At one point they had written upwards of 40 songs but only recorded 8 of them. I'm certainly expecting this to be one of their strongest offerings to date.

Nothing wrong with that commercial. Fits with the "weird" advertising BK has been doing lately. I like it, it is trippy as hell. And if he got paid big bucks for the commercial, I definitely don't blame him for doing it.

Oh I totally agree...the commercial is silly, which is what it was going for... still he does come across somewhat desperate and kinda pathetic doing it, even if he got paid some dollars for it. But my point had nothing to do with the commercial, but with the band itself at the height of their popularity.

Actually Tendercrisp Bacon Cheddar Ranch (produced by Don Gehman) is the first single from their new album.

i like all those singles hootie was famous for back in the mid 90's (hold my hand, i go blind, etc) and i like this commercial. does seem a little sad to see him doing it, but the outfit is just to go with the silliness of the commercial and it's not like he's the only known person in the thing. plus i like the catchiness of the song.

and if hootie got offered $750K for the commercial, then he damn well better have done it. there's no amount of pride to be momentarily lost that isn't worth $750K.

jpm. I was looking at a site with info for booking singers etc .. like prices..

apparently hootie and the blowfish still cost 75,000 +.. so apparently they are pretty well liked still by a lot of people..

little things can help get a career going again. if that commercial gets them back into more peoples mind. it will look genius

That's the way i approach the commercial. They'll sell 200,000 to 250,000 cd's regardless of the commercial. It can only help in that department (IMO)

Do you happen to have a link to that artist price website? I had someone asking me about booking prices for artists and i couldn't find the site i had previously stumbled on.
