They just played the new "White Boy Super Squad" theme. Again, I don't think it's funny, but Barry seems to be ok with it. Reacted to Mike James talking about how Barry got the team pumped up before the game in the huddle. No one understands what Mutombo says, they just laugh. Laughing about Rome showing saying the town isn't big enough for Yao and Tmac. Obviously said he is joking and said he loves the guy. Barry played with Shaq in '97. Smart, great guy. On Yao: Loves Yao. Can be TOP 5 center to EVER play the game. Still trying to get the mean streak out of him. May try to get Yao pumped up in pregame speech.
Recap... He was commenting on the Shaq-Kobe game last night, and was saying that most players in the league look at what's happening with the Lakers today, and the situation the Heat are in now, and Shaq doesn't really have to say anything whatsoever, but clearly any player who looks at how the two have fared so far in the season, they have to be snickering a bit, I am sure Shaq is. He talked about Yao becoming a great player if he gets that aggressiveness going. That is all I got so far.
LOL! Man, this guy JB is fun to watch/hear him talk. He is a comedian And he has been the most accessible Rocket this year, he is certainly a media favorite on this team. Just down to earth and funny. "T-Mac played great today, me and him combined for 41 points" Best quote of the year! Classic!
Here is all the recap I got... He cracked on Sura's "boy band" hair, and said that instead of taking one night off for the Super Bowl (like SF3), he toook 3 weeks off for the All-Star break, and said "What's up with that?" He said he saw someone in the crowd the other day who was wearing a T-Shirt saying "Bobby is a Hottie" . So basically he has been cracking on Sura all day He also talked about Yao taking over games in Suns and Sonics games, and he said that the Rockets haven't really needed Yao to play like that in most games, but that when they needed him he carried them at the end. He said Wesley is on auto-pilot and shooting lights out and they usually run a play for him at the beginning of every game so he can knock down an open jumper. He said the loss of Howard hurts, but Clarence is quicker than most people realize, and that they don't need scoring from that position anyways, and Clarence is an excellent defender and rebounder, and that is what they need. He said while Howard doesn't look too emotional from far away, he is a floor leader and a professional. When asked why basketball players slap hands at the free throw line, he said that players say, "What the heck is the matter with you? How can you miss a FT? You are an NBA player for God's sake!" He said that his teammates instead of picking him up after he missed the two FT in a row, they grilled him on it and made fun of him all day Then he commented about his dad a lil bit, but no one cares about that part Barry said that we have a quiet home court, and he is excited because he heard the next few games are sold out. But he said that knowing what a wonderful facility the Toyota Center is and having seen the Lexus Lounge and all those nice places in the arena, he understands that some people watch the game there, and he says he would too if he wasn't playing End of Interview
Basketball is entertainment. If we can learn to like the players it's even more entertaining. This "media show" stuff is important PR. I'm sure he's not practicing any less because of the show.
I loved how he commented when he missed those 2 free throws and when they had a technical free throw to shoot, he begged Wesley to take it. When he made it, he had his fist in the air like he made a free throw for the first time. I caught this in the Trail Blazer game and was wondering why the hell he was so excited to make one free throw in which we were up by like 20+ already, well now i know.
I don't think he has show. If he does I haven't heard any promos for it. I believe he justed called in to do an interview. Correct me if I'm wrong.
it's a weekly show that moves around the morning dependent on their schedule. Jon is awesome. He has done radio shows in most of the markets he's been in. clm
