Seriously, is Rox really that good? Yes, there is a 6 games winning thread Mar 6 DAL Won 90-69 (without Dirk/Finley) Mar 8 @SEA Mar 11 @PHO (without Marion) Mar 13 @SAC Won 111-96 (without Miller) Mar 14 @GS Won (who cares) Mar 16 POR Won 108-77 (who cares) But the teams we beat are not "full team" (I know Sura was out also) Was Rox really tested during the stretch? I think the coming games against Min and Mia are real tests. What are things you do not like in these 6 games?
Not cool notcool, not cool at all. But seriously folks, this thread has great potential. ...great potential for me to poop on!!!
Surely we are that good. Don't always use those opponent-not-full excuse. And acturally at least SEA was full. Nothing I do not like in these 6 games. They are as perfect as we can get!
I know I know, Sura was out, Howard is out, Yao had big funky thing on his elbow, McGrady missed some games (right? well if he didn't then he did have to deal with a death in the family.), we didn't have Jon and David the whole year but hey, all those things don't count.
If we had scraped by a few of those injured teams while looking ugly it would be one thing. We smashed those teams while playing some truly sublime basketball, especially on the offensive end. The only one we really looked poor in was the Warriors game, other than that we were brilliant, especially the talismanic Tracy McGrady. ...Sura faints.
The only * i would place is by the Dallas game they were pretty depleted. the other teams were missing one player or at full strength, the same could be said about us w/ sura gone and then easing his way back into the lineup. but here is the bottom line the sea, pho, sac,gs games were all on the road adding more to the difficulty of the game and then on top of that we convincingly won at pho and sacramento and both of these teams even without marion or miller are plenty talented to beat the rockets, even the seattle game was 2 points because of last second 3ptr by allen which had no bearing on the game whatsoever. had the rockets barely eeked through the games i would have said it would be been a bit different but the fact is that they've blown the other teams out in 4 of the 6 games and played well down the stretch in securing the other two games. these are signs of a really good team.
was this even worth a thread? Come on now even in times when we are winning we are sitting here saying the wins dont mean as much? A win is a win in this league no matter how it comes and that's all i am worried about.
We need to call the NBA and fess up... we clearly didn't deserve to win any of these games. Maybe David Stern will give us some points for honesty... it always worked in grade school.
Get him Stack.... EXACTLY A Win is a Win. I think I remember when we didn't have Sura and Yao fouled out early against the Sonics; I don't remember the Sonics saying "Well maybe we shouldn't have won this one....they had some guys out" A win is a win
Do not exaggerate Do not exaggerate All people here on the board as well as journalists are talking about Houston coming to the Western Conference Finals and making hype about our recent winning streak. I'm taking it with a grain of salt. OK. We have won last 6 games against Western powers, but Dallas played without Nowitzki and Finley Seattle played with healthy roster - very close game Phoenix played without Marion Sacramento played without Miller Golden State with healthy roster - very close game Portland played without Zach Randolph, Nick Van Exel and Ruben Patterson What more almost all of these injuries have come just before Houston game making it even harder for oposing teams to adjust (Nowitzki, Marion, Miller, Randolph). These facts make our streak not that amazing I thought before. So we've got real huge luck to play against these teams when their roster looked that bad (losing their leading players). Don't understand me wrong I'm very happy about this winning streak but I'm afraid it's still not good indication how far we can go in playoffs. Real test is coming and it would be Miami game. I hope Houston will play up to our hyperoptimistic expectations (especially because they are now in not-full-squad situation).
Minnesota a test? Did I read that right? Really did I? Might as well and say we are going to be tested by New Orleans, the Clippers, Golden State, and the Lakers for the other games for the rest of the season....
Case closed. Agreed with your agruments. Of course, I would like to see Rockets handled those full teams. With Rox now on the radar, all teams will step up and play their A game to beat Rox. It will be interesting to see how Rox will handle.
I would rather have 7 wins over teams at not full strength than 7 losses over teams with full strength
Didn't realise ZRB changed his user name commited fan, but with a seriously negative/pessimistic streak! [RANT] People need to deal with the reality that a win is a win. Saying a win doesn't count if the opponent isn't at full strength is BS. While you might say the Lakers would've won last year if Malone didn't get injured, it is irrelevent - the Pistons DID WIN!!!! Same could be said about the Wolves - I believe the wolves would've beaten the Lakers & Pistons if Cassell was healthy enough to be on the court. Almost all teams & players have injuries. How do you know any Rox player didn't have the flu & couldn't move/play at the optimal level? Or a muscle "twinge"? Some injuries can be played through, other can't (except for Iverson who plays through any injury unless they want a better draft pick). I really dislike revisionists... [/RANT]
