You might want to put your glasses on when you read recaps, because someone might pull a humor on you.
Can you please post the highlights of the JVG interview? Or perhaps somebody has the whole transcript. Thanks in advance
WHOA! LOL! The best SMACKDOWN on Weisbrod I have ever heard, by no other than JVG himself He said that while Weisbrod fired Coach Davis, he probably should have fired himself! The reason being that Weisass made two highly questionable trades that hurt his team (the McGrady one in the off season, and now the Mobley one that made the team further worse) The best JVG show yet to date! Thumbs up coach! I love this guy the more I hear him talk
The man is VERY, VERY candid, and I love that about him more than anything else. He holds no punches, much respect to JVG. This guy is all substance, and then some
I can't recap it, it is too deep, too substance-oriented a conversation for me to recall all of it. But he talked about a book about leadership that he assigned to the team at the beginning of the year, and he elaborated on it when one of the callers asked him about it. He elaborated on how intensity/playing the right way is much more important than "bravado", which he said some former Rockets have done (guess whom ) He talked about some of the people he respects in the league and some of the leaders he came across in his career. He talked about Yao's development, saying that it is brutally unfair to compare Yao to Shaq, because Shaq has had already some enormous success in the league, and besides the style of play both players have is very different. JVG said that this doesn't mean that Yao wouldn't be great, but that he is what he is as far as personality/style of play, and that the goal is to maximize his potential and the way he plays. He says the improvements Yao has made over the past few years have to do with his stamina and his ability to be more effective when he catches the ball deep in the post, but said Yao still must further improve on his stamina and the Rockets have to find a way to reduce his turnover problems. But praised Yao's character and his "team-first" approach and said that no one works harder than him, and that he is very satisfied with Yao. The best part? He was asked about the situation in Orlando, and boy did JVG have much to say! It was a "no-punches-held" candid assessment by JVG, who said that instead of blaming Coach Davis for what Weisbrod keeps calling "the bottom line in the league: wins-losses", JVG said that Weisbrod should have been more forthcoming and took the initiative to "fire himself"! He went on to elaborate on that, saying taht Weisbrod made two terrible trades that r****ded his team and their ability to win: the two major trades they made this year that is (the T-Mac one, and the latter Mobely one). It was a brutally candid commentary on the Magic and Wesibrod, and I can't wait for the Orlando Sentinal to hopefully take it and post it in their future articles. I would like to know what Weisass would say then.
Oh man! The was in the latter part of the show (it was an hour long). I hope you got it on tape word-for-word, it would be great!
or if somehow u can put it online I would love to hear jvg slam weisbord thanks in advance for the type out
