Except if the bulletin board is privately owned. At that point it's up to the owner as to what is allowed and not allowed. If Clutch wanted to make this RepublicanCity.net or whatever and still talk basketball, it's up to him. It's freedom of speech, but it's also right of ownership. You have a right to say what you please on this board, but he has a right to shut you up because it's his board. Your only recourse is to make everybody know how lame Clutch is and tell them to leave the board... I think we show a great deal of restraint given the emotional tenor of the issues on this board. Finally checking in, I see from the top of this thread that somebody expected me to play good cop here. Well, whatever kind of cop I am, I'm way too late. It's 9 in the morning, and this drunken brawl is over, and everyone who participated in it is lying on the ground in his own barf, sleeping off his stupor and his wounds. The embarrassment will set in as everyone awakens and sobers up. As far as I can tell, there are two problems here. One is the age-old disease that keeps returning to this BBS: People who can't find anything else to say or do start yapping about themselves and each other, trying to provoke something. A self-styled renegade martyr picks a meaningless, egotistical little fight with an administrator. The administrator falls for it. Bystanders jump in from all sides, mistaking this stupid little squabble for a test of free speech or some other principle slightly larger than a bunch of sportswatching geeks at keyboards. The other problem is new. What Clutch has said for weeks about Gore and his supporters is no meaner, angrier, or more unfair than what Clutch has said for years about the Utah Jazz and their fans. Except now it's not about sports, it's about politics. And whereas almost none of the regulars on this site are Utah Jazz fans, many, both new and old, are Democrats and Gore supporters. This is why bartenders try not to discuss religion or politics with their patrons. It's the price of having a Hangout forum -- and human beings running it.

If you're baited, and you respond like a normal human does when baited, that simply reminds us that you are human.
