He doesn't stand a snowball's chance in Hell to win it, but I think it would be cool to start up an "MVP" chant everytime he goes to the line at home. We haven't had that much excitement at The Summit/Toyota since the glory days.

It's Nash, or Shaq in the case where the Suns starts a free fall, or Nash gets season ending injury now. No one else comes even close to those two.

I voted "maybe." Definitely ahead of KG and Kobe this year.

However, I think Shaq deserves it this year. Just look at what his team's doing this year (yeah, they were a "surprise story" last year getting to the playoffs and now they're the odds-on favorite to go to the finals) vs. what his former team's doing this year (after going to the finals, they're now in rebuilding mode).

I give the nod to Shaq, #2 most likely TD, #3 maybe McGrady?

Hell, just like the "Fire Gundy" chants, I challenge you all to start up the MVP chant our next home game next time he goes to the stripe. Come on, I want some playoff fever. We finally have a team down here again.

No chance. I would give the MVP to Dirk. He's the only MVP candidate in the league that does not have an all-star teammate. Shaq has Wade. Nash has Amare and Marion. Mcgrady has Yao. Ray Allen has Rashard. Duncan has Manu. Dirk has nobody. Plus he's had to carry that team with Finley and Dampier out for long stretches.

I gotta go with Duncan. I usually go with the traditional though process of pulling the candidate off his team and thinking of where they would be at. The Spurs would be a mess without him.

Shaq and T-Mac is a toss-up for second to me. Wade has had a LOT to do with that Miami team too...he's a great compliment to Shaq. Same with the Rockets...we've got a lot of great compliments to Tracy.

Dont think he will win it but i feel that he wil finish #4 (maybe # 3) behind Nash, Duncan, and Shaq.

We need to start an MVP chant at the next home game when T-mac goes to the line.

I voted "no way", even though I'd love him to get it. They only give it to players that have years of consistant excellence, rather than the best player of the year (even though that's what it's meant to be). His comment about "mailing in" some games for Orl last season eliminated him fom the running.

IMHO Nash will win it (thanks to ESPN), followed by Shaq (who should get it on merit) & TD 3rd (media fav)

We need some "MVP" chants at Toyota Center. The Rockets poor start greatly affects T-mac's chances even if we were to win 50.

there is no way t-mac will win the award unless we go undefeated for the rest of the season with tracy put up 1980s jordan like numbers and if that is a big IF

face it folks most of the awards in the nba are media hyped just look back at the amare/yao lebron/melo ROY in the case of amare and yao if i remember right the voters in the media heavily voted for amare while the coaches/gm had a larger vote favor for yao, utilmately amare won (i may be wrong but i read somewhere that there are more media voters than gm/coaches please correct me if i am wrong) same thing with james and melo. melo had arguably the better ROOKIE season while leading his team in a tougher conference to their first playoffs in years. but james was te media darling and ended up winning.

the same goes for every award in the nba pretty much. if it were up to the coaches and gm only the only players that would win the award would be duncan or shaq. more than likely shaq would have multiple mvp awards instead of just one. I still think its shocking that he has only one mvp award, i am not a fan of shaq's game but i am not a fool either. the man makes the game so much easier for his teammates while being a living hell for his opponents.

this season the talk has been about nash and shaq and an outside chance of james. more than likely it will be either nash or shaq, it will end up on how both teams head into the postseason. miami has been picking their game up of late while phoenix has still been going pretty strong. the voting will be close but i figure that the mvp will go to shaq since its been in the west every year since jordan retired cept 2001.

also dont be surprised that even if the cavs finish 5-6 in the east that you see lebron ending #3 in the mvp balloting. the amount of pull the media has in the awards is ridiculous

I voted "maybe". In my opinion, it's going to take a LOT to overtake Nash this year. Not impossible, but highly improbable.

I voted "no" because I think Rockets and TMac are not there yet, however, it would be cool that he gets nominated and we advance to #4.

    Maybe.

It probably depends on how the voters view the Rocket's 6-11 start, will they credit him for turning it around or will they say he didn't get it done all season long like Duncan, Dirk, Shaq, and Nash have? He should at the very least be top 5 in voting.

Nash is this year's media darling and Shaq does have only one MVP and in the twilight of his career... Can't see TD with 3 though!!! Is Nash really the best player in the league? Having the best season? He's superglue for PHX, no doubt, but does he put up MVP #'s? Maybe in the assist column... He's the new Stockton IMO, not MVP... Shaq is destroying a weak East as expected, but with all the ups and downs, house-cleaning, and retooling, readjusting, plus the McMiracle, I think T-Mac has a VERY REALISTIC shot at MVP if he continues carrying the team and keeps his averages up...

Agreed that Dirk is doing more with less though, thought they'd have a "Grizzlies" type record at best losing Nash...

It's all about hype...and the hype I have heard the last few days is all about T-Mac. Who knows- if we can keep this roll going, he could have a shot. The voting at the END of the season is all about 'what have you done for me lately'. T-Mac has come on and found his nitch

Look at this- The Heat is a great, great team, but all of their hype lately has been about Dwayne Wade. I don't think anyone knew how good this kid was going to be this year, and it showed at the beginning of the year with all the Shaq hype. Now most learned basketball critics realize that it's a twosome that makes Miami great, not just Shaq. And that costs him MVP votes.

Tim Duncan is the best player on San Antionio, but that team is the sum of their parts, and I think MVP voters see that. Plus, Timmy is so laid back that it costs him votes from the voters that love flash.

Nash came out like Superman at the beginning of the season, but his niggling leg injuries have shown lately, and that is going to cost him votes.

All of these things add up to give T-Mac a better shot; we just need to keep on winning.

I don't know the numbers but I can't think of an MVP that didn't go to a player on a team that won their division (or came really close). Based of that and the fact that the Rox will likely finish 3rd (5th or 6th in the Conf), I think T-Mac has no chance.
