I lost my w-2 form that came with my work check, so I can't do my taxes now. Is there a replacement form of sort from the IRS I could used instead, or do I need the w-2 form at all cost? Will my employer allow me to get another one you think?
somebody please help the guy, although it is the wrong forum. If someone knows the answer, help him out.
The employer should have a copy of it. Even if they do not have Copy B, you can file it with whichever copy they give you.
First suggestion : call your company and ask them to send you another one. Second suggestion if first fails : call the IRS and ask them what to do. If it gets late or if you don't receive the replacement W2, you should be able to file an extension. I'm no tax guru, but I think those would work.
I've lost it twice in last 3 years. I just asked for a copy of W-2 from an office related with payroll or the office giving paycheck to you. any kind of copy of w-2 is OK.
Is this your first time file tax return? No worries. File an extension to IRS before Apr.15 while request your employer to send you the new W2 form
