coming home from one of the most upsetting losses tonight (ucla game) i was listening to the pre-game show on 570 am here in la to listen to the mavs/lakers game and of course the mention of the race for the 8th spot came up. the main pbp guy for the lakers, joel myers said that the grizzlies and the rockets need to look out for the lakers and nuggets as well since they are by no means locks yet for the playoffs (which i agree with at this time) but then he goes on to say how neither team is good on the road. last i checked the rockets were one of 7 teams in the league to have a +500 road record. he says grizzlies are a few games under 500 and then i guess when his stats guy told him the rockets were 3 games over .500 it probably shocked him and all he said was "well houstons a strange team they have a simlar home and road record" no mention of the fact that both are well over .500 then mycheal thompson (yeah that mycheal thompson) the color guy goes on to say that he isnt too worried about houston making noise in the playoffs and that they've had no real big wins (last i checked the rockest are 5-5 against the top 4 teams in the west with a game left against sa,2 against seattle and 3 against phoenix)

normally i dont get irritated by the lack of love shown to the rockets i am pretty used to it over the past 17 years as a fan, but this really irked me since these people were comparing the rockets of this year to the lakers and that the rockets are a one and done team. i understand the guys in la have to hype the lakers as much as possible but to not give credit where credit is due is ridiculous. much like what barkley said earlier tonight it seems that the media are thinking that the grizzlies will be the scarier of the 6/7 seed than the rockets.

anyways to get to the point i am demanding the best effort out of our boys the next 3 games on the road to shut up the world. this utter lack of earned respect is getting to me now, at least in the past 5 years i really couldnt argue against the lack of love for the team but this year i feel like this rockets team can play and beat any team in the league and that i dont feel that the rockets would be intimidated by anyteam including SA in a 7 game series.

go rockets and make some people eat crow this weekend!

Man, I hope the Rox beat the Suns....just so we can make Barkley kiss another ass. He's soooo anti-Rox.

Lakers beat the Mavs tonight. I can't decide if that's good or bad. It puts us closer to 4th seed and homecourt, but it also keeps the lakers close to us.

You kidding me? Of course it's a good thing. You have to focus on what's ahead of us. If we keep looking over our shoulder, that's a sign of lacking confidence. We will eventually lose focus and get caught up in no time.

At halftime of the Sacramento game yesterday, Bill Walton - in true Bill Walton form - said something along the lines of, "The Rockets are having the greatest week in the history of their franchise." And he was seriously implying that this past week we've played better than we really are.

I forget who, but one of the more credible analysts politely reminded Walton that we had, indeed, won two concecutive championships, and there were a couple of weeks in that '95 playoff run that were pretty special.

I live in SoCal, and I'm currently listening to 570 AM (the one Yoyo was listening too) via online streaming. I missed Joel Myers Laker Talk this morning, but Mychael Thompson's show is coming up right now. If I hear anything I'll post it, but I wouldn't take what Thompson says too seriously...he seriously wears beer goggled glasses when he talks about the Lakers.

No Problem. Right now they're talking to TJ Simers and Vic the Brick (the dude how gives the SoCal Sports Reports) being the ultra homer that he is, believes that the Lakers are peaking right now, as evident with the dramatic win over Charlotte. Poor Vic...he's such a loyalist. At least TJ Simers and Phil Hartman (the other half of the Loose Cannons) see the Lakers as they really are, a mediocre team.

I can't stand those guys on 570 talking about the Lakers ... They are so disillusioned. I'm so glad I live in San Diego and I have the option for another local radio station.

I still think its funny though that in LA, people can't even watch the Laker games on TV live since they tape delay any game that is not played on the West Coast. It cracks me up listening to people complain about that. Only in LaLa land.

P.S. I don't think the losers at 570 think the Lakers will catch the Rox any more ... They can't be that dumb :)

Joel Meyers is a joke. I miss Chick Hearn. Even Stuart Lance and Paul Sunderland did ok, but Joel Myers and Michael Thompson are just horrible. They were like they are the best, and maybe lakers were last year, but this year they couldnt get into the mode that Lakers suck. They lose their indentity, they still think Laker is an elite team and gave no respect to opposing team. Last week before play Boston, they were like Celts should be a easy opponent even on the road against them, just LMAO, Celts can beat the Lakers in their sleep now. Fock the fakers.

No mention at all about the Rockets which was what I expected anyways. In terms of NBA, allz they talked about were the Lakers.

Mychael Thompson is one of the biggest Laker homers. Joel Myers is okay. The only guy I've ever liked with the Lakers organization was Chick Hearn. (No, Rudy doesn't count as having any ties with the Evil Empire.)
