either way we NEED both of them, I figure whoever has the hot hands or whoever matches up best against the opposing team will play critical minutes.

Insane thread to start after only seven or eight games.

In fact, lets just get rid of all the point gaurds, since he's a master at his position.

This thread is just dumb. Sura is were Jeff wants him and James is were he belongs. Stop questioning what you only see on tv for a total of three hours and JVG sees every day in practice and games.

The only person with the better opinion is someone who has a better record than the coach if that coach were 0-30 or even 0-1.
And I don't see a single basketball coach (pro) in this website.

Good job JVG! Doing great and keeping me happy to watch those games.

This thread reminds me of those old "Should Cat start over Shandon Anderson?" threads.

hey - thank goodness for options at Point!!!- - it hasn't been that long ago that we were searching/hoping/praying for anything positive from the 1. Now we have 2 good options - each bringing a little something different. - great problem to have.

    From Mcgrady himself:

``When Mike, Jon and myself are out there, you've got to pick your poison,'' McGrady said. ``Who are you going to come off? All three of us can shoot. Mike is doing a fabulous job of getting his points within the offense.''

In 48 of total PG play, James and Sura(still getting in shape) ... the Rockets got:

    Friday

    16 points
    8 assists
    4 rebounds
    2 - 3 pts
    5- 14 shooting

    Sunday

    20 points
    10 assists
    5 rebounds
    3 - 3 pts
    7-12 shooting

I think we can safely look to stengthen our SF. PF depth this offseason ! :D

Doesn't matter who starts, it's who finishes. James is gonna get alot of 4th Q minutes if he keeps his production up.

Kenny Smith always started too, but Cassell almost always finished the games.

Are you seriously comparing Shandon Anderson and Bob Sura. What crap. I see your point because James is producing...but c'mon!

It also reminds me of the debate of Kenny vs. Sam. And we remember what happened then.

I did not intend to expunge Sura's good name. I just thought it was funny that people are defending Sura the same way they defended Shannon.

i'll say it again: mike james should start.

i'm not taking away anything from sura, cuz he has played well.

    BUT!!

in game three Sura obviously had trouble when devin harris was pressuring him, cuz he lost the handle.

in game four, terry torched sura. James came in and slowed sura down. we need Mike James to play as much as possible, SIMPLY because of his perimeter Defense. he is the only guard quick enough to stay with Jason terry.

i know van gundy is loyal to his players, ie sura, but there is time that we must cut our losses. We need to start James. the man is a premier defender and ball handler and even a better shooter than sura with a quicker release.

flame away at me if you must, but i'm just speakin the truth here.

I have no problem with James starting, but he has to be pulled EVERY time he dribbles out 10-15 seconds of the clock.

He sometimes does what SF3 did last year, and he isn't half the player. There is no excuse for him dribbling out the clock like he did on multiple occasions in the last game.

Mike James is a hard player to figure out.

In Game 1, he saved the Rockets asses with his big jumpshots off the dribble in the 4th quarter to keep the Mavs at bay.

In Game 2 he had that big steal in the 4th, followed by one of the best looking drives to the hoop for a layin I've seen.

He wasn't a factor in game 3 and In Game 4, his missed jumpers off the dribble really hurt the Rockets. Those were the same shots he made in Game 1.

Who knows which Mike James will show up for this game.

Dude not way I want James starting unless it means Sura comes off the bench and plays more minutes, but James other than game 1 with 3 late shots game 2 3 and 4 he had flashes of getting to the hole but he would miss a reverse layup or he would jack up 3's that we didnt need to take, I do like his D when he wants to put a lock down he gets all over his man he showd that once in game 1 in the backcourt he smothered terry and got a steal. I was all over this guy thinking he would be a huge impact player and while he was in the regular season we have seen a ball hog in him in the playoffs that has come out way more than I knew. I knew this guy was shoot first mentality but man he needs not know when he isnt hot. enough said im out

the same could be said about sura and his offense. But i'm not even talking about offense here. mike james is the better ball handler and defender which are two crucial things needed right now.

sure he dribbles too much sometimes, but when him and mcgrady have been in the game together, i have noticed that he tries hard to get TMAC the ball. i think his over dribbling has lessened.
