The Rockets has been truly remarkable the last few weeks winning all the games on the tough road trip. What I saw is a complete different team than what we have in the beginning of the season. Like Van Gundy said, "Yao and Tmac inspired their teammates." Well, the whole team inspires us the fans, for a possible championship run this season.

No way I'm putting pressure and unrealistic expectation on the Rockets. It's just the way I feel, I truly believe they have a chance to win a championship this year. I have watched many championships team growing and finding their place and finally reach their destiny.

    Here's the reasons:

    1. We are one of best defensive team in the league, no matter what happens we always play good defense. We all know defense wins championships.

    2. We're playing hard no matter what the score is. Guys like Sura jumping over people going after a loose ball out of bound when we have the win wrap up. Barry hitting the deck time and time again. Last season, many times we were sleepwalking and play relax when we have a big lead, and many times we got burned at the end.

    3. We have two of the best players and leaders in Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady. They are deadly come fourth quarter. They are at their best when the going gets tough. No one can guard them one on one which creates a lot of open shots for other guys

    4. We have the right mix of role players that play hard, play smart, and fit in perfectly with the two stars. Most importantly, they each accept their roles and at the same time many of them step up and hit the big shot when game is in the balance.

    5. The perfect combination of inside-outside balance attack. Smart guys with range like James, Barry, Wesley, even sometimes Sura that run to the right spot and knocking down the jumper. Which in turn opens up middle for Yao to work on his man.

    6. Great pick and roll sets demostrated by the Rockets. Yao sets a great pick TMac hits the shot. Or Screen and roll, Yao fills in the lane and get a easy layup. Those double screen reverse to free up TMac and Wesley and other guards. We are the machine. Everybody at the same page, clicking.

    7. Rockets are healthy and gelling at just the right time.

How could I have forget Mutombo, he was huge for us.

Bowen always fighting like a guy hanging on a piece of wood for dear life in a flood.

    Big shot Padgett.

I'm just so happy the way the Rockets is turning out to be. CD did a great job, IMHO he should be the GM of the year.

    9) When the reporter asks the Rockets who is the league MVP, both Tracy & Yao said: "Here is looking at you, kid".

This team reminds me a lot of the championship teams where you just get the feeling that someone will make the shot that needs to be made. This is fun to watch and I think we are contenders right now.

    10) A good bench. Our bench scored 41 points in the Sacramento game.

    Nice post.

The only thing that scares me is the power forward position, Juwon Howard, he's been good for the Rockets for the most part but there's only so much he could do, not sure if it'll be enough.

Exactly! The bench has really played well. Barry brings grit off the bench and you've got to love his passing.

What I think is so special about this team is the way each player plays their role and has no problem with it. I love how the players on the court support each other and give encouragement. I love how whenever you look at the bench, they're all standing and cheering. I love watching Jon Barry dance on the sidelines. But most of all...I love seeing everyone pass the ball and get it to the open man. Everyone has good stats at the end of the game.

    exactly

We have two all stars but they are so nice and unselfish so whole team play like a team. Everyone try their best and trust each other. Just great to watch them to play.

When I see them (include players on the bench) they all same happy be part of this team. Just great.

by the way, I hope JH practice shot a lil bit more.:D

What impresses me is that the veterans are all so excited, every last one of them. They are not merely cheerleading for the home team, which would be routine. No, they appear to be genuinely eager. I have rarely seen a more motivated bunch of vets.

If in their experienced judgement the team has a chance to do some serious damage in the playoffs, then maybe it's time for us fans to get excited too. :D

What amaze me is that its becoming so much harder to hate on any of our guys. Hell , I was even cheering for vin baker for crying out loud.
The chinese commentators joked that he is the ultimate slap JVG has for the opponent , it goes like "see , I put vin baker in , that is how much you guys suck"

I dont think we'll win the whole shabang this season, but were getting Closer! say next season, we sign a Swift Type to help yao out, were then ready to challenge anyone. this season is a prelude to next seasons championship parade in downtown Houston!:D

The one area that I still feel we are lacking in is the killer instinct. Witness today's game. It was obvious at the end of the half that Sacramento was not going to be able to hang with us. They had absolutely nobody to stop Yao in the paint. But we come out the third quarter and let them back in the game before we woke up and shut them down. That's just a little sign of immaturity that lets me know that we are probably not good enough yet to win the whole thing. I will be disappointed if we don't win until we have to face San Antonio. I think we are realistically the 2nd best team in the West at this time.

I think the reason that makes us such a special team is chemistry.

Theres no ego's no jealousy just people that want to play hard and win. I think another reason our team is so successful right now is that everyone trusts each others and is unselfish with the ball.

Early in the season Tmac would pass up a tough shot to someone else that had a good look and I would say "NO!" take the shot! better you than someone else! The other person missed the shot.

then after the game Tmac mentioned if he could do it all again he would make the same pass because its the "right" pass.. the guy was open and had a good look and he trusts his teammates.

That seems to be paying dividends lately.. you hear that alot of teams dont trust each other to make the extra pass, or are selfish and want to take all the shots. Our team has two stars that love passing the ball and I feel its contagious. We have mentioned for years that we would be a dangerous team if we played the right way, passed the ball and controlled our TO's. No matter who the personnel.

I think we have done a great job building around our two main guys and finding shooters and sharing the ball.. I think it was JB or DWes that mentioned that its fun playing on this team because everyone touches the ball, everyone gets a chance to shoot. No one hogs it!

I think that says alot about our team and how we're doing makes me believe we have the right mix of talent and experience to make a run.

how good of a run? who knows but I believe we have a good chance.

    J

I'm just glad we have that great team swagger. I honestly believe Tmac and crew think they can beat any team in the league. I'm glad teams fear playing us instead of us fearing playing teams like Dallas and Sactown.

Like my other post of a comment. We are beating teams with major players out. Yes we look good. But remember those were not the full teams. Without Dirk,Shawn Marion and Brad Miller it's alot easier to win those games.

    NBA Champs? Wishful thinking.

WC Champs? Still a year a way.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but realistically...we're not on par with the Spurs and Suns...yet. (Remember that the Suns were missing Shawn Marion...I Luv Waltah...but he ain't Marion). We need another year and 1 more athletic big man. The upper limit for the current year as I see it is the 6th or 7th game of Round 2...

Please don't miscontrue this as negativity...I absolutlely love this team. We are watching greatness in the making. But we're just not "there" yet. Lots of teams needed a couple tries and we're very, very close.

The team has great chemistry....but we're still just 1 player away. But that won't stop me from screaming at the TV for every playoff game. :)
