honestly with the way we've been playing, i don't think any of it matters. i feel we can beat any team at home OR on the road. especially if we win tomorrow to complete our roud trip.
Actually it IS making some sense. LAL came to the final last season with an almost worn out lineup with an injured Malone. The Lal thus had no answer for the wallace bros and lost the championship. The west playoff turnament was just too tough. So if we can have a chance to play a relatively easier opponent in the 1st round, that'll do nothing bad at all. However, 2nd round or deeper is simply out of our control.
Minnesota and Denver are gonna fight tooth-and-nail to get into the playoffs. Memphis and LA are gonna fight tooth-and-nail to move up the ranks, so they don't have to play Phoenix or San Antonio. There's too much pressure below us for us to play around with trying to control our position. We must keep winning. -- droxford
Hypothetically, you could be the 5th seed and open in DAL or the 6th seed and open in SEA. For my money, were better off with quick flights to and from Dallas than across two time zones. Let's move up...it can't hurt and we may even luck into homecourt advantage.
Iknow. like. dallas is really good. I mean... really good. Like Dirk is amazing, and I think mike james should guard him. Since he's quick enough. Like, what do you think? Yao is ood, Tmac is good, and the Rockets are pretty good too. I think.
If the Rockets enter the playoffs on a roll, they will beat the Mavs or Sonics. In fact, I think Dallas is softer and the Rockets would be less banged up after playing them. The Sonics have a mean streak the Mavs lack and won't go down without a nasty fight whether it's 4-0 or 4-3. I say bring on the 4th or 5th seed and play the Mavs. If the goal is avoiding the Spurs until the WCFs, we still don't know whether they or Phoenix will end up #1. With the Spurs continual nagging injuries, you could flip a coin as to who the 2nd round opponent would be for us if we finish #4/#5 or #6.
Championship teams don't care who they play because they will have to beat good teams to get to the finals. We're not playing to get to the second round. We are playing for a championship. We are going to have to see and beat Dallas sooner or later. It might as well be in the first round with a home court advantage.
I understand everyone being happy with the rockets play lately. But the teams we beat all had major injuries. And star players out. So we are not really being the true team. Not to say we can't . But Dallas without Dirk,Sac wothout Brad Miller; Phoenix without Shawn Marion. We beat teams without their stars. So are e a good team yes. Are we as Good as some ppl think on here. I say beat team with all their players then we can say we are championship caliber. Hate to be a downer. Just straight shooting.
seeding is a big deal.... yes, we can beat any team if we're on our A game.... but I would rather sweep through the first and second rounds than to play three seven game series to get to the finals.... we have the oldest team in the league.. and fatigue will be an issue..
I really hate that injury excuse, as if we are the only team that hasn't had injuries. I remind all that Yao started 16 games of the season with a 6lb cast on his arm and shot something like 46% instead of 55% now (his FT was off too), and missed the first 2 games of his career with a flu; TMac has been bothered by nagging little injuries and family deaths all season long; Bobby started on the IL to start the season, came back and got injured again (I actually don't know how the guy is still playing, he should be having knee and back surgery); at one point our starting PG wasn't even a PG, Wes was playing the 1 because both Ward and Bobby were out (it looks like Ward is out for the season and beyond). Yet some people here keeps coming up with the line "we beat teams with injured players." Well guess what, other teams beat us when we had injured players too. Yeah injuries suck, but good teams don't b**** about it. PS. We started some games with Rod freakin' Strickland.
Dallas has a history of folding in the playoffs, so I think we'll be okay. They're really missing Nash, although Terry has looked great recently. If they get Dampier back, he would be a big lift for the playoffs. My hope is that Sacto wins enough to keep us in the 6th spot. We play Seattle in the first round, Phoenix in the 2nd, and then SA in the conference finals.
Just dont pay attention to the trolls. With the way we played this past week, we could beat anybody at any place. I really dont care if they have players injured, that's part of the NBA. Hell, you may have players injured in the playoff, too bad your team just hinges on one or two players. We had Tmac and Yao out of lineups for several games, and our record is like 4-2 or something like that.
YES. Of course. With twenty games remaining, the Rockets ought to win as many as they can. Minnesota and Denver cannot be counted out yet. And Memphis and the Los Angeles Lakers can still overtake the Rockets if they lose like five straight games. Play to win. Want to win. Don't ever think about losing. Think like a winner. Declare you will be a winner. Make your stand.
Every team has injuries. It's when a team has so many injuries that it's quality is dramatically altered that you should really think about it. If you beat the Spurs without Duncan...you didn't really beat the Spurs. So, I'm proud of our recent wins against the Sonics, Suns, and Kings. Marion and Miller are nice players, but those latter two teams had the majority of their firepower. The win against the Mavs is a bit hollow, since they were lacking both Dirk and Finley.
If Juwon is unavailable in the first round, I change my mind. We MUST avoid the Mavs because Dirk will torch us.
