Could he be considering Chicago? The wife's parents are there & as most men know, what the wife wants, the wife gets. [IMG] It's at least sounding like the Bulls won't get snubbed by the FA's this year. Here's the link & the part of the story about Davis.

Bowen's visit coincides nicely with the Bulls' more low-key recruiting approach this summer. It also fits well into the franchise's philosophy to acquire leadership and veteran help and focus on attainable free agents.

Davis, one of this summer's premier free agents, didn't seem to fit the latter category before his visit. But he and agent Bill Duffy came away impressed by the Bulls' approach as their visit extended into Thursday with a breakfast meeting.

The Bulls are one of the few teams that can pay Davis as much as the $11 million annually that Toronto is offering to keep him. Fred Hoiberg, who played four seasons with Davis in Indiana, went to dinner with him as part of the recruiting effort.

"The big thing about Antonio is his family," said Hoiberg, a free agent who's expected to re-sign with the Bulls. "His wife is from the Chicago area and her parents are here. They're very close with their grandchildren. To bring them all together might be a huge factor in Antonio's decision.

"The way I know him, he wouldn't come here unless he was serious. I spent a lot of time with him this [trip] and had some great conversations with him. He wants to get something done pretty quickly. If the right offer comes on the table, I think there's a very good possibility of him being here."

Why would the Bulls want to sign Davis to a big contract anyways. He's a vet in this league who will probably retire in 5 years or so. In the meantime the Bulls will be winning 10 games a year, while Curry, Fizer and Chandler develop. Davis is still a very good player right now, but he's the type of player that a GOOD playoff team would want to help put them over the hump. He's not a young stud that you spend max money on if you're a rebuilding team...but I guess it doesn't really matter since Davis will blow off the Bulls anyways. Instead Bruce Bowen will be joining Ron Mercer as their "Big" free agent acquisitions over the past two seasons.

My line of thinking is if the wife wants to be close to all those family members, why is she living in Orlando with her husband working in Toronto?

I think Davis is Orlando's to lose... if they can't get him in a sign-and-trade or clear the cap room for him, then Chicago or another team will be an option.
