This was funny. Glad Yao is hanging with two hall of fame centers, can only help his growth and game. I love Deke, I hope we sign him for a couple more years but I fear he is expendable because of his expiring contract.

I don't know why people always b**** about Ewing not doing anything or helping Yao out, he is clearly working on his passing skills:

Thanks Fish, that dialogue from Pulp Fiction is exactly what the banter in Yao's place was making me think of, I just couldn't remember it!

EWING: Well, I don't eat pork, duck or chicken either. Only shrimp and fish [and beef].

    MUTOMBO: I eat anything.

Ok, Mutombo made me laugh out loud in my office. Really loud. For some reason the first thing I thought of when I read "I eat anything" was Lance doing the Mutombo impersonation in the morning on 610AM. Too friggin' funny.

From the 'It's a Small World' department:

Gene Menez, the SI writer, is from Houston. We've been very good friends since 2nd grade -- went to all the same schools and were in the same classes. Through junior high and high school, we always talked and played sports. He's a point guard and he just sends these laser beam passes. I don't know how many people he beaned in the head there, but I know I got tagged on more than one occasion. We used to play a game to see who could stump the other by stating some random pro player, and the other would have to say where they went to college.

He's a great guy -- very smart. Awesome to see him write this... absolutely hysterical. I'm jealous as hell -- told him you can't buy a ticket to that kind of comedy.

BTW - he said the thing was twice as long, but they actually could only print so much.

Clutch, dude, you have to get the other half of that article. One couldn't script out something as funny as this- just thinking of Yao's laid-back, straight-faced, dry humour and Dikembe's broken deep-voice swearing and chortling... aw man... good stuff.

Just a heads up---the March 14, 2005 Sports Illustrated issue with the Toronto Blue Jays on the cover has the same story in print with more pictures.

They show the one with Ewing and Yao
    One with just Yao eating,

    One with Mutombo eating

One with Yao, Ewing, and Mutombo, sitting in huge reclining chairs at the restaurant--looks like they are watching TV

For those who just want to take a peek at the grocery store or at Barnes and Noble its on page 34-35

Ewing looks like he is sucking his teeth at the table.

LMFAO ... Dikembe is great. I find myself laughing aloud at his undying hatred for the refs and how he hops up off the bench arms flailing and a perceived bad call. LMAO, I love him man.

Yes, Dikembe is the man. I didn't realize he was so funny.
