Check this out. I can't remember a time when a franchise's summer league team was so stacked!

    http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/gen/wire?messageId=5394425

Jerry Krause is trying to send a statement to the rest of the league:

"If 9 or 10 guys on every other team go down with injuries, we can take this league by storm!"

Geez, Chicago, leave some room on your summer league roster for some players who AREN'T under contract! Guess they figure their roster is established for the most part and they just want to get a jump on team chemistry. I'm guessing their regular season roster will look something like this:

    PG - Crawford/Guyton
    SG - Mercer/Hoiberg/Hassell
    SF - Artest/Chandler/Lampley
    PF - Fizer/Skinner
    C - Miller/Curry

Doesn't leave much room for summer league walk-ons. This is a team that's gonna be in for a long, long season. Hopefully for them Crawford will make a giant leap forward next year, and Fizer will live up to expectations. They really need Crawford (or somebody) to really win the starting PG position, not stumble into it or share it.

Speaking of which, where is Bryce Drew these days?

Bryce Drew won't be invited back, the Bulls will pursue a veteran PG, a veteran SF (been there already) and veteran center (coming in tomorrow).

Ouch. Makes that pin look even worse for Krause - his first round pick is locked up for a couple more seasons, and meanwhile he has nothing to show for the trade.

Drew's got the type of game you look for against a zone. If the Rockets need a 3rd PG they could find worse choices than bringing him back. Otherwise, he'll end up in Atlanta or with the Grizzlies - the place where has-been Rockets end their careers.

Yeah...but it's not too bad. We have two people on the roster better than he. Those are the breaks. He wants to go the Phoenix.

It's kindof too bad about Drew really. Whenever he was starting here in Houston, he put up BIG numbers -- really, really great, starting-caliber numbers. I know it wasn't unheard that he'd have a 18 point, 8 assist performance in the start for an injured player.

Did Drew even play much for the Bulls?

branded -- are you guys going to send us Brad Miller or what? I'm thinking Cato for Miller, or Walt for Miller (you guys have no outside shooting). Or how bout Cato AND Walt for Miller? Seriously, what are Chicago's plans for this guy?

Local papers are now saying they expect Drew to be on the roster. Crawford's development is expected to take years.

Oh...I hope not. I wouldn't want to tie up cap space that way. We ducked out on Brand for Bibby because we would have had to have taken Reeves.

No outside shooting? Crawford, Guyton, Hassell and Hoiberg.

    Years eh?

Until now, Jamal Crawford hasn't made much more impression on Bulls fans than Corey Benjamin or Cory Carr, post-Jordan draft picks who quietly failed to become core contributors. But now Crawford has become The Kid Jordan Wanted. Now the spotlight lands permanently on the eighth pick in the 2000 draft and his buck-the-system battles with Bulls coach Floyd.

Teeth clenched, Floyd acknowledges he has heard through the NBA grapevine how Jordan feels about Crawford, a 6-foot-6-inch point guard. Floyd knows Crawford has been upstaging Jordan in pickup games at a West Side gym. Floyd knows all about how Jordan believes he should "take the wraps off" Crawford.
    ----
Jordan has been so smitten with Crawford's open-court dishing and scoring that he was willing to trade the draft's consensus best player--Kwame Brown--for Crawford, Elton Brand and another Bull who has been playing at Camp Jordan, center Jake Voskuhl. But the deal-killer was Crawford.

I find it hilarious how if Michael Jordan has praise for a player ie: Rodney White, then all of a sudden people start saying "Good lord, that kid can play! Michael Jordan said so."

Michael Jordan is not the definitive judge of talent. In fact, he has no history of having an eye for talent, as he's only been GM of the Wizards for 2 years now, and has done absolutely nothing to improve that team except clear cap room in trading Howard, with the delusional aspiration that he might be able to land a free agent or make a successful comeback.

Should be some healthy competition in the L.A. summer league games.

The Bulls will have their regular season roster, apparently.

The Sonics will have Rashard Lewis(!) and Desmond Mason in addition to Radmanovich and UCLA's Earl Watson.

The Warriors will only have Chris Porter from their pre-draft roster, but rookies Jason Richardson, Troy Murphy, and Gilbert Arenas will all be there.

The Grizzlies will have Pau Gasol and Shane Battier, I assume.

It'll be nice to see the #2-7 picks all in the same environment. [IMG]

(On edit: Looks like Gasol won't be there, unfortunately. He's not officially a Grizzly until the 18th.)

Agreed. Though it is another thing to have an opinion after playing against someone.
