http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2003271 As Houston moved closer to a deal with Bills defensive tackle Pat Williams to be their nose tackle, current Texans nose tackle Seth Payne got word of potentially losing his job and quickly signed a deal. I would take Pat Williams over Payne anyday since he gets injured everygame. Big Mistake by Texans.
Yeah the way he was talking about I thought it would be someone new like Trotter or another offensive lineman. He should have just came straight out about resigning Payne.
four-years and $16 million with a $4.5 million signing bonus. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2003271&num=2 (same link as first post this just takes you to the second page that mentions the Texans)
Where did you get the Pat Williams qoute from? It wasn't in your link. Regardless, Seth Payne is underated and unapreciated by the novice football fan.
I don't think anyone question that Payne is a solid player....he has just been very injury prone the last few years.
Hopefully the bonus will be payed out this year, I don't think he can be effective for the life of the contract and I think getting the guaranteed dough out of the way early (while we have some cap room) is a wise decision. If that is the case, this is not a bad signing. However if the bonus is spread out or even worse backloaded towards the end of the deal then it is a bad signing.
Solid player, excellent character but he has been injury prone over the past 2 years. Its a roll of the dice if you ask me, but if hes healthy its a good deal
I know where he signed but read the original post when payne realized the texans were close to signing pat williams he agreed to our deal.. if that means we could have had pat or seth I would take pat.
