Just to let everyone know, at Fat Cats on March 13th, Sage Francis is coming to town to do a show. If you have never heard of him you should dl some stuff and check it out. He is an awesome rapper, and it is not gangsta rap but some of the new "indy" rap that has been comin out the last few years. Similar to Atmosphere but better (imo).
And Fat Cats is a great place to see live music. Good sound system and great sight lines from anywhere inside.
Beautifully put. Just because a guy doesn't rap about dealing drugs and killing people doesn't mean he's more "real" than one who does.
1. I've been to rap concerts live that were good shows, Kanye West was the best. 2. Tell me, how do "white guys" sound? I hate when people say "he acts white" or "he talks black" like everybody in that particular race does it just like that. Please.
No kidding, you know what I'm saying? I hate, you know what I'm saying, people who, you know what I'm saying, try to categorize, you know what I'm saying, people in to some, you know what I'm saying, category. (excerpt from Maury Povich Show)
Sage Francis is freaking awesome. Listen to his song make shift patriot that came out after 9/11. Just amazing how "real" the song was. My personal favorite rappers are ones like tupac, dead prez and etc. Ones that points out the problems with the current society and are more teachers than entertainers.
I have never ever ever ever ever ever ever heard a white MC I couldn't peg as white on the first line of a verse. White people are lame...get over it. It sounds just as phony and unauthentic as when you hear some poseur like Stevie Ray Vaughan playing electric white boy blues.
I'm dumber for having just read that. First, you are seemingly coming from an intellectual starting point where you consider white people, umm, 'lame'. Wow. I'm glad you're so enlightened as to pigeon-hole an entire race and arbitrarily decree that they are 'poseurs'. Second, so what if you have the 'uncanny' knack for 'pegging' an MC as white on the first line of a verse. So is it your belief that white people are somewhat inferior in certain respects? If so, why is that? And to be intellectually consistent, do you also feel that other races are incapable or less adept at certain skills, talents, or arts? And, again, if so, why? I'm curious about what makes someone tick that arbitrarily spews statements and puts limiiting parameters on an entire race of people *simply* for being that race. Growing up in an interracial household, I've been on both sides of this issue. While it might be easy to pile on and laugh with you about those 'lame white people', it doesn't do anything but undercut credibility when we try to argue against those same types of limitations against other races.
DHB: You are ignorant, what attributes does a "black voice" have that makes it so much better to rap with. NBAHOU: Ill be there also, Sage is the guy that got me likin rap.
MC Jude is one of our finest rappers. What MC Jude and all other rappers know is that for every great, talented rapper, there are five ho's who are nothing short of slammin.
