    God no! No Kenny Smith!

Anyway, I believe Mr. Lindsey is next in line as CD's likely successor (I will double check on that). I believe Lindsey is a nice guy too.

It looks like Dennis Lindsey (Rockets vice president of basketball operations) is the likely successor of CD assuming Chad Ford's article is credible.

Dennis plays a big role in drafts, players and rosters moves as much as CD. His hand prints was all over the good Mobley (and likely Yao) draft selections as well as the bad ones like Mirsad Turkcan and Bryce Drew. Before being promoted to his current status, he was once the Rockets' player personnel director. So he should have a good handle of the GM duties.

Interestingly, I did not know that he played ball with David Wesley....

Hopefully he retires before the draft.

Don't discount the emergence of the ZenGM. P-Jax may want to get his next ring as an exec.

Why would he want to coach the Knicks? The LA Kobes? Portland or Minny maybe. Or maybe become the Zenniest of all GMs.

The GM job is much different than the coach's. Recall Pat Riley-super coach-only better than aaverage GM. The GM really has to have great communications skills and contacts in the NBa network of coaches, GM's, and players's agents as well as great diplomatic skill with the NBA

CD is trying to facilitate his coaches desires for players. The aquisition of players is a collective effort between the coach, owner and GM . This has been discussed before by Jeff quite clearly.

Many have critisized CD in the past - including me ( I hated the Maloney and Glen Rice signing as well as passin on Rashard), but the job is very difficult. I hope we can get a good one.

REmember -Jerry West is a great GM, but less effective coach.

Who knows how Phhil Jackson would be as GM.

I would rather a less flamboyant figure with nose to the grindstone hard - diligent worker without an Ego - loyal to the team.......

I say we do this , by a theocracy style.

Anotherwards, God place's his chosen GM in charge of the Rockets.

While John the Baptist is a good candidate, he might just get replaced by Matthew or Luke.
