Jim Rome cracked on Yao saying he has nothing to do with the recent run by the Rockets. He also said Yao gets dunked on by guys like Chris Mihm and Yao never takes that as a sign of disrespect. Yao is what he is. He is a cash cow/soft big man/roleplayer. Like I said before, Yao and the Rockets worst nightmare would be for a Chinese gangster supreme baller to defect and show the world that there are actually hardcore ballers in China. Yao's stock would fall faster than Enron after that b*stard Skilling resigned.
Its amazing how annoying Yao bashers are. Yao had 3 blocks vs the Jazz and like 5 more altered shots, and 1 block that they called as goaltending... can he play better? of course.. but it wasn't his softness that cost us last game, but rather some of his teammates. I'm just calling it like it is.
Yup, Chinese gangster with dragon tattoos on his butt, wearing a pajama on the court, yelling chinese obscenity to coach, teammates and refs, flooring Artest with Jet Li moves, smoking pot while doing taichi on the bench, having 240 ilegitmate children a year, people would totally dig that! Yao on the other hand, tall dude smiling all the time and has humor and quotes Chairman Mao... who wants that?
The assumption does not make sense to me. If Amare was 7'6, he may have the same slowness as Yao does.
Man, please use your common sense when you post this kind of stuff. The difference between 32 min and 36 min definitely is different from that between 32min and 1min.
People he only paying 32 minutes per game do the math.I only have one concern fouls, but all great centers have the exact same issue. Hakeem same issues with fouls back then,O'neal same issue fouls, that was the talk with my buddies. If he can pay 38 minutes 22-25ppg 10-12rebs 2-2,5 blocks
Just to let you know, I wanted to write something rude about your mom in response to your post... well, I restrain myself from going there.
Why do people keep saying Yao has short arms?? Yao's wingspan is 7'4 3/4. short for his height, true! but compared to other NBA front court players, that's not short at all! how can that be his disavantage when it comes to rebounding? i don't get it!
You answered your own question. Other players arm length vs Yao's arm lenth are not what is being compared. It's the proportion of whatever player we are talking about....for example... You'll often hear that a 6'4" guard has long arms for HIS height ("He has 6'6" arms"). This gives that player an advantage over other 6'4" guards that have proportional arm length. Yao is 7'6" but his arms are shorter than some 6'11" guys. Do you understand? Also, it's not like his jumping ability gives him an advantage; which a 6'11" guy may have. So, Yao would benefit greatly if his arms were at least proportional to his height. It's not. Arm lengths also gives players rebounding advantages in which they really don't have to jump, but rather just reach over and snatch the ball out of the air. Like Deke can. Notice that Deke can't really jump, but he's a good rebounder even at 38 and only getting 14mpg.
This is true. But solid was saying that if Amare would retain his freaky athletic ability, and still be 7'6" he'd be better. Yao's not that athletic. He's stronger than he was his rookie year. But he's does not have the same type of power Amare or LB do. Yao is a sharp shooter. That's the one thing that Yao has over Amare. And his shorter arms actually help his mechanics on this. If his arms were longer, he'd have less quickness in his release speed. That's why you never see guys like Deke shooting long shots. He spent most of his time in the post. Yao's arms actually remind me of Ray Allen's. Both have short arms, but quick releases. The negative of this, of course, is less reach for rebounds.
