When I turn my computer on everything seems to start up ok. But when it gets to the point where you choose what profile you want to go to....my monitor usually goes black.......turn off....turns on....turns off.....turns on.....then just stays black. This leads to me having to turn my computer off by holding down the power button (Not good) and starting the computer up again. Sometimes it will take two or three goes at it before I get the computer up and running. Also.....the monotor someone turns itself off when Im using my computer....if it does come back on, scrolling up and down the screen is very jerky. Sometimes when it turns off while Im using the computer it comes back on but all the images on the screen are screwed up. It eventually flickers...turns off and on and fixes itself up....but its off putting. So does anyone know whats wrong with my computer? Is the monitor about to pack it in or is it something more serious then that?
I'm not trying to just point out the obvious here, but I had that same problem a few years ago and it turned out the wall outlet my monitor was plugged into was a little loose.
no idea what's up with your monitor, but here's the first thing I woiuld do... 1. check all cables - back of the monitor, back of the computer, plugged in to the wall... 2. check the video card, make sure it's seated correctly if all that is fine and you still have problems... just wait till the next post is posted, somebody will have something else for you to try...
Like RockHead said, check to make sure your video card is secure and that the monitor wire is firmly connected. I had a similar problem back in '98. My monitor ended up dying on me.
if the cables are all tight....try a different monito(if you can) and make sure the computer isnt sending out weird signals that is screwing it up... if the cabels are tight...and another monitor works fine... then the monitor is about to die. I had a flatpanel that used to blank out in the middle of working...and I used to be able to get it to come back on by turning it on and off several time...but eventually...it just goes off and never comes back.
the first time I lost a monitor, it was a CRT and everything went green... I had lost something in there that provided color... I would bang on the side of the monitor and it would flicker in and out of color then after about a couple of days, it just crapped out.
Yeah, everything is plugged in ok. When it first started hapopening I guessed that the monitor was about to die. The thing is that when it is working.....it wors really well. Its not to old, but it is a cheap monitor I got when my first on blew up in a big way. Anyway thanks for all of your help. I guess I'll just have to wait untill the end.
Borrow a friend's monitor and use that. If the same thing happens, you can rule out the monitor being at fault. If it doesn't happen, chances are good that it's the monitor. Work from there.
take a deep breath and blow into the monitor. this seems to be the universal technique for everything.
The monitor is a really cheap one called a "Rado" Dont know if this helps: Plug and Play monitor and Radeon 700 series.
That worked for every cartridge game, from Atari on up. Hell, it'll still work on some CD games. Anyone know why in the hell this worked?
Lower the contrast and brightness and see how long it is before it flickers again. If that helps, then it looks like it's gonna die. When that happens, hitting it when it acts up will give you some more time before you find a replacement.
I did the same with my CRT that eventually died on me. I would bang it when it would go black and at the same time click the power switch on and off until it came back on. Eventually the poor thing died.
I have a monitor that just tinted red? I mean bright red. Anyone ever seen that before and know a fix.
