Hi guys. After having been driving small cars for years, I am thinking of buying a minivan for a change. The sedans are just too cramped for carrying my ski/snowboard gears.

I have looked around & compared various makes, my choices narrowed down to Honday Oddysy & Chrysler Town & Country.

Has anybody owned either one of these for awhile ? What's their reliability like ? Last thing I want is the van stalls in the cold rainy weather.

    :)

I have to agree here. We borrowed a friends to drive to Cali and it was a nice trip. He had full leather, only thing missing was a DVD.

Pimp it out, make it the party mobile. :D

    Thanks...
    My wife drives a 2003 T & C. Nice ride, no problems.

I love when people insult other people's rides.

I was thinking the same thing about getting a mini van. Today's mini van are somewhat styleist for example the Honda you mention. I really like the Nissan Quest and Toyota's Sonoma. I like the extra room for trips.

I must be getting old (31) for me to start considering a mini van.

Get an SUV. Once you start driving those cars, you wont go back to sedans.

Minivans are really uncool - they are the station wagons of the 90's.

    HOWEVER

They have much higher safety standards than SUVs. Because SUVs are classified as light trucks, they get through the fuel consumption loophole and the safety loophole. For the most part they are bigger cabs bolted and spot-welded onto car bases.

On the other hand, minivans are designed from the ground up to be that structure and are much safer in an accident because of it.

For those who do buy an SUV, be aware that you are buying into the hype and marketing. The only thing that car companies make more money than SUVs is the financing (their #1 revenue generator by far).

Now, we're in the chick-lay-baby-car era which is why we are talking about minivans.:D

Get the odessey because it is more reliable and has a better resale value. The sienna is nice also.

All minivan advertising I can remember have targeted mothers.
You must be one bad mother....

Seriously though, every man I've seen on the road driving a minivan looks pissed-off and appears to be driving aggressively in order to prove something.

    Honda > Chrysler

No matter what type of car you are buying. My parents just traded in their Town & Country for a bought a Camry. That van turned into a piece of crap in a span of 3 years. After it was about a year old, it made a trip to the shop at least once or twice a year. Last summer, the AC would blow out heat (not just hot air from outside, but heated air) and nobody could figure out what the hell was wrong with it.

If you want something reliable though, I'd stay away from minivans in the first place (not to mention them stripping away your manhood ;)). Get an SUV or truck to carry your gear.

    Dude...

If you go to the Honda dealership, test drive the Honda Pilot. It is a good-sized SUV, reliable, the four-wheel drive you need to go skiing/camping or whatever else you like to do. And on top of that, a fully loaded Pilot will cost you nearly the same amount as a fully-loaded Oddessy.

The Pilot is good for you, the T&C is way too expensive, and the Oddessy is, well, still a minivan.

The Pilot is your answer. If not, get a Ford Freestyle, you can move people around in it with three rows, and it has all-wheel drive, and it is pretty damn cheap.

Of course, Ford might not be the type of car you are looking for...

I recommend the 1983 Ford LTD Country Squire (aka "the family truckster")
