I think that these mainly didn't stay true to the original

Starsky and hutch was a spoof of the show
    Swat - bad script
Shaft was pretty good .. even though he was the nephew of the original

    eye spy . . . another comedy

this will be closer to Bad Boys

You can't bag TOO hard on Hollywood for the remakes... they still do a lot of original stuff that is excellent. For example, Million Dollar Baby, Sideways, Ray, the Aviator... a lot of good stuff came out this year.

The reason they keep doing these remakes is because they're instant money. The name and the stars get people in the door, and after that the movie doesn't even have to be good. The only way to get rid of them is to make them unprofitable by NOT GOING TO SEE THEM.

No, it is going to be set at the present day.

And it's not going to be a comedy. It is going to be an action/drama. Again, think Heat and Collateral.

The best episodes of MV were always the dark ones ~ hopefully they will make the movie along those lines and not a rock n' roll buddy cop flick.

At any rate this is definitely a rental.

They should have made GTA Vice City instead.

Is it a comedy or is it going to be more serious?

Would be funnier if they used the original actors, based in in 2005 but had the people from the show stuck in the 80's.

Farrell cant act to save his life.

As a person with amazingly thick eyebrows, I resent that statement.

Serious. Think "Heat" and "Collateral". That will be the tone. This isnt going to be some crappy Starsky and Hutch comedy routine.

    Stack....
“Jumping from high school to the NBA is like a virgin sleeping with a 40-year-old woman with three kids,” says Toronto forward Walt Williams. “You better raise your game a lot or you’ll be humiliated.”

    That quote his hilarious! LOL!

Here's the first look at Colin Farrell as Crocket.

Here's some Colin Farrell fansite with tons of spy pics from the set. Of course they only have pics of Colin. Judging by the speed boat he's driving (how can a cop afford that?), this looks like it's going to be Bad Boys-esque, but hopefully not.

I agree with Deuce. If this was anyone besides Michael Mann directing, I'd be expecting complete crap. But it's Mann. It's his baby and he'll do it justice. And he doesn't make bad movies.

By the way, there's a script review already posted online. Sounds promising:

    Then what's the point?

Are white linen sports jackets ever going to make a comeback? I think I still have mine from the 7th grade. It probably doesn't fit no more though.

That picture of Colin Farrell is wrong, wrong wrong. Dude, roll your sleeves up. 80s REPRESENT.

Both of these guys are great. I think Farrel has done a good job in every movie he's been in. I'm sure they'll make it work. Heat is one of the best action movies of the 90's; I'm sure Mann can deliver something like that again.
