Build his resume, means winning a title. So, that's why he will stay. He's going to get a chance. And that chance will last as long as he keeps progressing in the playoffs; even if you don't like it.

And one day, when he's won a title with THIS team. He will be part of the championship club. Too bad for you, though. Heh... :D

How many championships had Larry Brown won before last year?

He was successful everywhere he'd been... but only just one finals appearence.

If JVG keeps this up, in 10 years, he'll be where Larry Brown was (in terms of NBA success), and thus I guess he'll be an "acceptable" coach with a "built resume" for you.

You still didn't answer the question. Did the Pistons make the correct move in firing Carlisle and hiring Brown? Yes or no.

Of course they did. Would it still have been the right move if PJ's Lakers hadn't self-imploded?

But if you're trying to compare Carlisle and Van Gundy....Carlisle had 2 years of head coaching experience and was just swept out of the ECF.

Van Gundy has been to the NBA Finals as both an assistant and a head coach. Carlisle hasn't.

Van Gundy has the blessing of the team's best player...here's what Chauncey Billups thought of Rick Carlisle...He just didn't treat pople the right way, and it caught up with him."

Further, Carlisle and Dumars clashed over mentality. Dumars had built up talented youth like Okur and Prince, and Carlisle didn't play them. Remember when Prince busted out in the playoffs? There was a great deal of controversy as to why Carlisle wasn't playing him in the regular season.

I'd hope that even to you, it's painfully obvious Dawson and Van Gundy are very much on the same page when it comes to personnel.

Your attempt at a Carlisle-Van Gundy comparison is weak.

I have not posted in this thread in a while because I was hoping that this thread will just die and go away instead of helping EDC keep it in the first pages. But it is clear now that EDC has a stupid agenda he wants to continue to push further that makes no absolute sense. It is a subtle insult to us all that must not be tolerated.

Now I ask you moderators this - why has this thread not been locked? Are you afraid of something or you do not know how to justify locking it? We (majority of the fans on this BBS) have tried the ignore route and it has not worked. What is the "ethical" and "substancial" justification of allowing this insulting and demeaning thread to continue being a nuisance?

Now I call upon Clutch, DoD, Jeff, et al to explain to us why this thread cannot and should not be locked?

Let me refer you all to the rules and regulation of this board if you do not mind....

I am sure EDC by himself must have violated at least one of these rules. Even the thread starter, R0ckets03, has begged that this thread be locked.

If EDC wants to open another thread to pimp Philip that is fine - he can go ahead and spare this thread. It is obvious that he does not care about civility and respect to his fellow ROCKETS FANS as well as moderators and the spirit behind this community.

Enough is enough folks - lets kill this thread already.

PS. Do not ban EDC. He could be useful down the road.

Stop posting and the thread will go away. You know, calling out the mods isn't exactly the optimal way to get your way on anything. This is a moronic thread and it is pointless, but it was almost gone a couple days back until someone decided to resurrect it. If you guys are not smart enough to stop arguing, I'm not going to stop you.

I take great offense at your accusation. I DO NOT insult anyone unless they go first. I may disagree with them (as in the case of DavidS), but I respect his right to his having an opinion (although I don't agree with it).

    Jeff,

I completely agree with your assesment, but at the same time there is only one person who keeps bringing this thread back to life. I've tried to refrain from posting in here anymore because nothing of value can be gained from arguing this topic anymore, but other posters do not see the same. While I understand the point that if we just completely stop posting, this thread could die -- with only one person keep bringing it back to the top, and so many members that belong to this board, it's hard to imagine nobody responding to what he has to say.

You obviously have not been following the proceedings on this thread closely then if that is what you say.

There is only one man/woman who has chosen to notoriously bring this rubbish back up once it leaves the first page and his/her username is EDC.

PS. What is the meaning of "calling out the mods isn't exactly the optimal way to get your way on anything"? An attempt at rebuttal?

Calm down, Fegwu. If edc decides to abuse this thread and just to see his name runs all over it, he's losing tons of credibility by doing that. You know, in a community like this, your credibility goes with your history. If one keeps on doing dumb act, he's making a fool of himself and thus losing respect from his follow posters here. In the future, his posts will be ignored and made fun of, and that's never too fun.

Personally, I have alot of respect for guys like MacBeth (where has he been, btw), Doc, ZRB, DD, Tim and the entire clutch crew, because they all post intelligently most of the times, and have a long history of doing so. If I remember it right, edc used to post alot of good video links for us and I really appreciate it.

edc, you are a senior member here, and I have alot of respect for guys who joined in early and keeps on posting. However, I do suggest you let this thread go, it is not good for your own reputation. Unless, of course, you don't care.

Jeff, I think Fegwu's request is legit, although I don't think locking threads/censorship is a good way of doing things. Personally, I would leave it alone, but I don't think Fegwu's out of his mind for suggesting locking it.

Apparently you've never read all of Clutch's drunk posts. I seriously almost had to take control of the ban button and ban that dude a few times myself.

OK - - this thread has gone on so long I've had time to reconsider my earlier posts.... Sure I didn't buy season tickets this year... but in truth, JVG was only part of the reason ( not the whole reason as stated earlier) - ( I didn't mention moving my residence of 20 years, relocating my business of 25 years, selling/moving a family farm of nearly 50 years,,, and signifcant other's broken back from car wreck crossing all lanes of I-10). Now if that's all there was, we would still be going to games - - (ok, she would have to stand up in the back, cause you can't sit long in a body cast - but I could visit her on the breaks) ...... Fact is, I guess I just don't like the way JVG looks on the sidelines (significant other says it's the hair). HOWEVER - - I'm apologizing to JVG. I was wrong about the roster turnover - I was wrong about JVG being unable to change on offense - the latest set of trades renew my faith in CD. We now have a "team". these guys bust their butts, know their roles, and night in and night out are just flat out fun to watch. Since the body cast came off a couple of weeks ago, I think it's time to see about half year season tickets ( Where's Tim when you need him?) - I still don't like JVG's expression on the sidelines, but love the results.

Thanks for the reply, but I was asking DavidS. He is the one who is insisting that a change should not be made, in favor of giving the incumbent time if he is "doing ok."

Incidentally, Carlisle went to the Finals as a player, had experience as an assistant under several championship coaches, and led the Pacers to a 61-21 record, and the Eastern Conference Finals again last year. The issue of Carlisle's ability and only lacking time to "build a resume" is quite comparable.

This seems to be a meta thread - more posts about the thread than the topic of the thread.

    == Kill clutch kill.
