In my small town we don't have cameras on the lights, but I have a question. Who do they give the ticket to if you are not driving your own car? Can they see faces or do they just go by your plate number? That would suck if you were at home and your buddy borrowed your car to go to the store and ran that red light.

Had this bill passed and was the precursor of video cameras tracking speeds on main highways, I wonder how many favorable camera opinions expressed here would be reversed.

Just me being me but cameras tracking red light offenders smacks of Big Brother. Casting a large net to catch drunks and reckless drivers also snares the occassional 2 or 3 second violater. Count me in as glad it failed to pass.

They send it to whoever the vehicle is registered to. The sheet of paper has a space where you can write in who was driving the car at the time. It has to be notarized and signed if the driver is changed. Otherwise, you just send in the payment. It doesn't affect your insurance, but sure is a waste of 50 bucks.
