Seriously, does this guy have anything left in the tank. last team i saw him play with any kind of productivity was with the Celtics. an even then he looked horrible. 6 and 5 in 15 out of him is is a real bonus. i wish him the best against his battel with the bottole, but i doubt he got anything Worthwhile left in him.
Im not saying that he can still be productive... but i feel the need to remind the members of this board about another vet that most of you decried as being done and washed up. Mutombo havent you learned your lesson about assumptions yet? how bout we wait and see if coming to a real team with strong leadership encourages him to work a little harder to play to his (admittedly diminished) capabilities....afterall....at one point in time..he was a pretty damn good player. kinda like Deke... btw....the jabs at his alcoholism are classless and we should expect better out of the members of the best sports board in the world... tho I know some of you cant help but be classless punks.
Considering that... * We were winning without Taylor contributing anything. * Baker (when sober) has a better back to the basket game than Howard or Taylor. * Baker can play spot minutes at 5 better than Howard or Taylor. * Baker is cheap...2 years remaning totalling less what we were paying Mo for the current season (with 2 remaining). I think the key is Baker staying sober. If he can/does, he'll be productive beyond what 90% of the fans think. If he fails to stay sober, the Rox are off the hook for his salary. Baker is a pretty decent risk IMHO.
I hope so, cause if he can sober up and get in shape, he can play. you dont just lose you're talent over night. his lacking direction and Motivation. tell him you come in shape and play upto you're Potential, the Starting PF position is you'res. give him some incintive and see how he reacts to it.
Gater you are spot on. We will have to see, but just his size and ability around the basket excites me more than Spoon or Padgett will ever excite me. If he can only follow Mutumbo, we would be doing great. Good luck Vin.
Very true this was the man who "was the only player worth 100 million dollars" big words by a pretty decent coach from the UNC George Karl thought he was worth 100 million before 100 million was a number to be thrown around. But he prob. will sit the bench if he got 6 and 5 for us in 15 that would be huge. who knows??
At least we seem to be done with the "hilarious" Mo Taylor weed references. Cuz that joke never got old and each one was more cleaver than the last.
Lock this thread or change the title. I'm not PC by any means, but the alcoholism reference is a little hateful. Of course, I'll try not to be a hypocrite and make mar1juana jokes about certain players.
One thing this team has is good influences. We have trade away our last trouble maker in Mo, now all the guys on the team has a positive images. And hopfully that could influence Baker somehow.
yeah, the alcoholism jokes are a little out of line. I'll be first to admit that, and apologize for it and say it was out of line, only because I just mentioned it in another thread. It is a serious concern. I hope he has beaten his battle with the bottle. On a basketball note, this guy was absolutly one of, if not THE best PF in the league a few years ago. Remember his years in Milwaukee? Man, he was simply awsome. Could it be, that he becomes the Carl Herrera of this years team. That guy who comes off the bench for a few minutes, plays some tuff D, grab some boards, score some easy points. I certainly hope so. Time will tell.
The trade was a financial move. If we cut Moochie and Baker both, it's still good. Whatever production Baker might give us is gravy. I see no reason to be hating on him, even if never does anything for us. It isn't his fault he's here; it isn't his fault we have to pay him what we have to pay him. Vin, you can consider your time here as something to keep you busy after your retirement; I'll still be happy you're around.
Vin Baker is a HOUSTON ROCKET now, dont forget that buddy. you know what, im going to go out a limb here and say van gundy will have him playing his basketball in years.
