I say TMac trade only because we already knew for a while that they were going to draft Yao. The TMac trade was so dragged out that we started to wonder if it was either going to fall through or another team would swoop in and take him from us. It was a BIG happy relief when it was finalized.

I am not talking about the day we drafted Yao, I am talking about the day that we got the #1 pick.

the day we got the number 1 pick.

we had the 6th worst record in the league, and walked away with number 1....thats just amazing.

we knew for weeks that we were frontrunners in the tmac deal.

Yea, I realized that after I posted.

I'll keep my vote due to not knowing enough about Yao before the draft to feel like we HAD to have him. Everyone projected him as such a project, and with all the ass-kissing the organization had to do with the Chinese goverment, it seemd as if Yao would be a risk to take on. I wasn't impressed a whole lot with some of the other rookies available either. In TMac, we were getting a bonafide superstar to make this team a legit contender for years to come.

McGrady. Truly special player. Yao's got quite a way to go to reach that level.

Off the top of my head, it ranks second only to the day we won the coin flip for Dream.

McGrady. Known commodity and the team really made a bold stroke. Plus, the idea to open the press conference to the public was genius. Not only was it a blast (I was there), but it clearly made a big impression on T-Mac.

Getting McGrady meant losing Cat and Francis............so it was a bittersweet day actually.........But getting Yao was all positive, it was exciting winning the lotto:cool:

    Same here.

I felt also that Francis-Mobley marriage with Houston was a failed project here in Houston. I was expecting landing an Elton Brand for Francis.....now you can imagine how I felt when we landed Mac instead.

    Wow!

    Other notable days/events include....

    1. Landing Backley
    2. Landing Eddie Griffin in that draft day trade
    3. Landing steve Francis
    4. Landing the RI standout in the second round (his name is Mobs)
    5. Francis' lucky number one ping pong slot and subseqeuntly landing Yao.
    6. Landing Eddie Johnson
    7. Today.

I would go with T-Mac trade in this poll with and all the drama made it even better, but I would say the trade to bring in Clyde to play with Dream was the best trade so far...

I had to go with drafting Yao, because I felt sorry for Steve, Cat and Cato.

    The day we got McGrady.
I didn't really know who Yao was.

I watched the lottery and saw Steve get #1 lol..didn't expect that cuz we were like #13 worst team.

    McGrady

I stayed up on these boards till 3am EACH NIGHT just in case something came up (news, comments, rumors, whatever)

The first pick..I was excited but I didn't think anything of it since I didn't know how much of an impact the pick was going to make but with mcgrady I knew instantly we were gonna do some damage

the whole thing was hyped up..the open conference at TC was freakin AMAZING!

thats exactly how i felt when we got T-mac also. It was nice getting the #1 pick but noone knew exactly how good Yao would be (still dont now how good he could be). On the other hand T-mac is one of the top 5 or 6 players in the league and getting him gave us a great 1-2 punch to build around.

I was pretty drunk when we got that #1 pick, but I recall that I was happy.

The best day was the Drexler trade, which was also the first Valentines Day I spent with my wife......and our second date.

T-mac by far... I started to look like a black JVG staying up til 4 in the morning refreshing various newspapers online, and doing so much work because i was too anxious to know if we were going to get him... Then the miscues on that one site that leaked that we already had him, then suddenly they take it down.. I was super excited when it finally came through, I had many a dreams about t-mac on the Rockets.

The day we got #1 i was happy, but I didn't know too much about Yao other than what was posted on here about him.

Today has been excellent as well. We've gotten some of our future and present goals achieved with great success. CD pulled off trades that even NBA Live wouldn't let me do LOL . I listened to 610 AM from 12pm til 6pm, it was a very exciting day for me.

The day we got the pick, because it was a lucky gift. We won the freakin lottery. TMac trade day was good, but we had to give up something to get something.

The day we got the first pick. Shanghai borned, Houston raised. I knew Yao was on the bubble as the number 1 pick, and I was just thinking wont it be sweet if the Rox get the number1? Nah, that just happens in movies.......

Plus I didn't realize how much this board would change at the time, so I was really really excited.

T- Mac, I had mix feelings. I knew it was a good move and improves the team. But I loved our players at that time, and was devastated to see them go.

Today, solid moves but nothing to write home about.
