That would be unbelievable...but I don't really think it will happen, now that we have James...

Fast-forward to the end of next season...we just traded Mo Taylor and Reece Gaines (and their contracts) for Mike James and a second-round pick...forget about Moochie and Baker...this was a great day.

That would be pretty nice, although I'm not sure where everyone would fit after acquiring 3 point guards (Moochie, James, Payton)... ok, 2.01 point guards.

Seriously, what happens to the rotation in this case?

Well, actually that leaves us with what....7 "point" guards?

3 that won't play ever again this season, unless it's garbage minutes. It would be awesome to have GP. I hate him so much, but he would be a perfect fit.

Huh, apparently Moochies real name is Martyn. Who knew.

so, the rockets have 3 2nd round picks? are all of those for the next draft, or are they spread out? these questions might have been asked in the threads but i have not seen an answer.

Awesome day for Van Gundy and his puppet CD. We have so much flexibility, and no bad contracts after next summer on the books. And I'm happy to eat my words on the Wesley trade. I've been clamoring for awhile now that the Rockets should trade MoT for contracts expiring next year, but I didn't seriously think they would pull it off. The sky's the limit for us.

I hope the owners stick it to the players, and the new CBA comes out with a serious luxury tax. If so, with our flexibility and expiring contracts, a trade for a third superstar could potentially open up for us.

That would be my hope...after seeing how Baron Davis went to Golden State, I am thinking anything could be possible...you know, New Jersey could clear a lot of cap space next season if they did, at some point during next season...

Houston trades: PG Charlie Ward (5.4 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 3.1 apg in 25.7 minutes)
PF Vin Baker (1.4 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.4 apg in 8.0 minutes)
PG Moochie Norris (2.6 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 1.1 apg in 10.0 minutes)
SF Clarence Weatherspoon (2.1 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 0.2 apg in 8.0 minutes)
Houston receives: PG Jason Kidd (14.2 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 7.9 apg in 35.6 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +2.7 ppg, -0.4 rpg, and +3.1 apg.

New Jersey trades: PG Jason Kidd (14.2 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 7.9 apg in 35.6 minutes)
New Jersey receives: PG Charlie Ward (5.4 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 3.1 apg in 25.7 minutes)
PF Vin Baker (1.4 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.4 apg in 8.0 minutes)
PG Moochie Norris (2.6 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 1.1 apg in 10.0 minutes)
SF Clarence Weatherspoon (2.1 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 0.2 apg in 8.0 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -2.7 ppg, +0.4 rpg, and -3.1 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Houston and New Jersey being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and New Jersey had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    :D

    Just kidding ;).

I never hated GP, even when we were rivals.

Maybe there was a concern that Mo could be nearly untradeable. Maybe they wanted to sure to free up $$$ after next season for a reason.

I cannot believe that Mooch is a Rocket again, and I didn't even know that Vin was even warming a bench anymore ... but it was a savvy move.

    Well, I'll ask you....

What is easier to trade, a player with two more years remaining on his contract at $9 mil/season, or two seperate players each with one year left and each less than half the cost of the first player?

Fact of the matter is that they are expiring contracts going into next season which are nice to have in possible deals, especially at the deadline when some teams are looking at dumping salary and are wiling to give up good players to do it (ala Webber).

I was right. I'm sure Will is trying to think up ways to seduce CD as we speak:

Will: I want to have Jeff Van Gundy's baby! Right now!

Will: I want to have Tracy McGrady's baby! Right now!

Will: Personally, I'm very upset. I have offered several times now to have Jeff Van Gundy's baby, and he has still not called me.

Agreed. CD and company definitely get gold stars today.

Let's not totally overlook the Mooch simply as an expiring contract. He knows how to play with Yao, has a more uptempo teammates, is better than Barrett and possibly Strickland and had a bad ass afro.
