    MoT deal update

    Hey guys,

    610 just reported that there is an adjustment in the Taylor trade, and they say it is good for the Rockets.


    Meanwhile, CD will be on shortly to confirm stuff and give details.

    Can't wait!:)

    they just said that we did not give away any picks at all that the knicks are actually giving us a second round pick vin baker,moochie for taylor.

    this is unreal!

    I am not so sure about the small adjustment in the Taylor trade, but it seems like the Rockets gave away a 2nd round pick, and not a first. I am not sure if I heard that right, but seems to be the case.

    Anyways, CD will be on shortly to confirm all the facts and end the rumors once and for all.

    that we get second round pick. we dont give any picks away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111

    CD says following:

    MoT trade confirmed pending passing of physical

    CONFIRMED: WE get the 2nd-round pick, the Knicks don't get ANY picks from the Rockets.

    So Rocks get: Moochie, Baker, 2nd-round pick

    Knicks get: Taylor only

    Unbelievable!:D

    Hey, that was probably smart PR. Let it leak that we gave away a first rounder, then find out we don't, and get a second to boot. That way we're all thrilled about the trade.

    CD also says following...

    1) Says Mike James is a quality player, and 3-4 GMs of other teams have called and congratulated Rocks on trade. He also found out Mike James was thrilled to come play here, saying he has family (maybe wife?) from Houston.

    2) Rich Lord praises CD and says "you are on a roll!"

    3) CD says that chemisty is great on the team

    I've heard about this back-patting before and don't understand it. Like telling him "you're the man" will make CD more likely to get suckered into a bad deal with your team in the future.

    I wonder if the CEO of Target ever calls up the CEO of Walmart and says, "I just wanted to say, those rolling back the prices commercials...FANTASTIC!"

    I guess I can see it happening especially that CD is supposed to have a rep as a good guy around the league and it helps keep good relations for the future. In contrast, I would suspect someone like Weisbrod is not likely to get "attaboy" calls from other GM's after the classless way he acted during and after the TMac deal.

    i think GMs do talk to others besides just doing trades. I think Tal Smith, Astros president actually gets calls from other teams asking for suggestions from him and looking over their deals since he is just so good....:cool:
