Well, I wouldn't have appealed to the Supreme Court, but it appears they may have a case. One can easily make the argument that the Florida Supreme Court overstepped its bounds by rewriting election law. But with Miami-Dade not doing a recount, I think I'd just let things hinge on the counts in Broward and PBC.

Of course, since Gore is now saying that even if he comes up short in the recount, he's still going to dispute the results, I would be more willing to appeal the ruling of the Florida Supreme Court to the US Supreme Court. Since Gore is going to take every opportunity to get those electoral votes, it seems stupid to not take every opportunity to get those electoral votes on the Bush side, too.

In a more perfect world (not a perfect one, but closer to perfect than what we have here), the current recounts would be the end of the story once finished. But neither side is letting that be the case.

Another thing, considering that the court is willing to overstep its authority and rewrite election law in a way that is expressly different than what the Legislature intended, I wouldn't think they would be so shy about making rulings whether asked or not (and requiring a state-wide manual recount was within the court's perview whether they were asked or not. They could've ordered it, and if they were really concerned about the things they said they were concerned about, they would've ordered it).

And the written decision is still internally inconsistent when they speak about the importance of every vote counting and then only apply it to three counties in the state. What they should've written is "Every vote is important as long as those votes are in those three counties".

Gore's a stinkin' baby. He lost but won't face the facts.

I have NBA League Pass. And when the Rockets played the Suns at home, the Suns broadcasters were saying how Kidd is so much better then Francis. Francis schooled Kidd!
