Maybe I missed it, or maybe I'm just way off with the popeye reference but...

Did anything ever come back about oilepere's health? I know one of his kids posted on his behalf because he was at the hospital, but I don't rememeber ever hearing from him again

    As a follow up:

Assuming a poster did die, did they take appropriate actions to pass on their estate according to their wishes, minimize probate costs and avoid estate taxes.

Did they review their beneficiary designations, asset titling, wills and trusts.

    That is the real issue.

I would be lying if I said I've never wondered what happened to some of the more famous posters.

We should have a death pool. I have been disturbingly curious about what happened to a guy who was actually a buddy of mine that posted a lot...was a longhorn honk...and loved the Rockets. His username had something to do with the horns...I got a buck on him.

It may be morbid in a way, but think about it. We would all like to pay our respects and in this medium it's not easy to hear about what's happening to people. I don't think you need to apologize, SJC.

    ... you sicko ;)

Yep. He had a little boy, too. And he was fond of posting while hammered drunk.

My money would be on the guy that posted about his pet elephant or some crap. And he always had :( in his posts I think. What was his name?

I have to say, I wonder about stuff like this from time to time. I have a friend/acquantence that I met in a chat room a few years ago. The guy lives/d in England and was suicidal for a long period. He would randomly show up online like once every 2-3 months after being a guy that sat in front of his computer 24/7 for as long as I knew him. Then he started showing up online more often and seemed to be over his problems. He seemed to be doing really well, but I haven't seen him online or talked to him period (nor have any of his other friends) in a couple of years. Dude was a great friend and I wonder what happened to him on a regular basis. He was suicidal because his wife and newborn son were killed by a drunk driver.

I'm still here. I didn't catch death and fortunately I didn't really have mono for like a year. Turns out I was really just bored.

Holden. And I doubt he is dead, because he keeps trolling this site under different user names, so no worries, I'd say.

By the way, I once saved a life of someone online...she had a webpage called "suicider"...when I worked for one of Europe's largest portals...she had a countdown to when she would kill herself...fortunately, we got alerted by some users - first we thought it was a prank thing, but four days before it was going to happen, we alerted police and they went and talked to her and her parents sent us a thank you letter.

    Wasn't he "LongHorn Fan?"

That story about getting struck by lightning standing in front of his sliding glass door was really amazing. Weren't both he and his son blasted out onto the patio or something? They were both okay, thank goodness.

EDIT-- Oops, there you are LongHorn Fan. Glad you're okay!
