Man Charged With Plot to Assassinate Bush
    Tuesday, February 22, 2005

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A former high school valedictorian in Virginia (search)was charged Tuesday with conspiring to assassinate President Bush and conspiracy to support the Al Qaeda terrorist network.

Ahmed Omar Abu Ali (search), 23, a U.S. citizen, made an initial appearance Tuesday in U.S. District Court. He claimed that he was tortured while detained in Saudi Arabia since June of 2003 and offered through his lawyer to show the judge his scars.

The indictment said that in 2002 and 2003 Abu Ali and an unidentified coconspirator discussed plans for Abu Ali to assassinate Bush.

i do have a beef with this arresting thingy.

the thing is all these peeps held in Abu Gharib are held under U.S law?... do they have a trial?? how do they get arrested without evidence???(i have heard cases of such things)

there is some 15 year old who was held in Abu Gharib from Canada...they say he killed someone in Afghanistan (gernaded a U.S soldier) ... though they are speculations (used torture to get it out) so is that evidence???....you can break anybody in tortue and admit to anything you want...especially some kid.... just wondering? how does the justice system work?or is there even one? can they arrest anyone they want under suspision of terrorism?

That's OK. I've never seen Trader Jorge and Jeff Gannon/James Guckert in the same place either....
