The streak lives for one more game...T-Mac is a little mad after his sub-par All-Star performance and makes up for it against a possible first round foe in fashion. Seattle can play it up a bit on defense, so the three point shooting really needs to be there considering the Sonics can also light it up from downtown on offense. Should be a great couple of games. Even though we'd all love to take both ends of the back-to-back, I'd be more than satisfied with a split.

yeah we'll have a split...hard to say if it will be the suns or the spurs that beat us. I would put my money on the spurs cuz they are playing for some revenge. But a sweep is not out of the question...especially if yao and T-mac play like they did against the wizards.

Big Test... I dont know if this is an accurate assessment but I see the Wizards as Sonics light.... and we thoroughly beat up on the Wizards. A steady dosage of Yao in the paint should prove beneficial. My question though is who matches up with who? If Wesley guards Ray I get worried b/c Ray can shoot over him but if u put Mcgrady on Ray who guards Lewis?..........Bowen?

I feel this game is going to be tougher than the next game. It seems like 20 days since they played. So forget about the streak. The streaks over. Psycholigically they kinda gotta start all over. So who knows how they'll come out. Both teams could come out flat. It'll probably be one of those grind it out wins or real tough losses. I'm going to go with a win. Rockets 97 Sonics 92

Sonics All-Stars clash with soaring Rockets
    Associated Press

GAME: Seattle SuperSonics (35-15) at Houston Rockets (32-21).

    TIME: Tuesday, 8:30 p.m. EST.

While the All-Star break interrupted the Houston Rockets' best run of the season, it gave the Seattle SuperSonics a chance to regroup after a pair of losses.

The Rockets will try to extend an eight-game winning streak when they host the SuperSonics, who hope to avoid their first three-game losing streak in the first meeting between the teams this season.

The books opened with Houston 3 point favorites host Seattle, the total is set 199 1/2. Houston is riding their winning streak to a record of 6-2 ATS.

Ray Allen had a game-high 17 points and Rashard Lewis had two, representing Seattle in Sunday's All-Star game, which the East won 125-115. Houston's Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady had 11 and eight points, respectively.

Yao, McGrady and the Rockets now try for their ninth straight win. Houston's streak is its longest since March 1999 and the best active streak in the league. It's also a franchise record for consecutive wins before the All-Star break.

``We've just developed a great chemistry among us,'' Rockets guard Jon Barry said. ``We're having fun on the offensive end.''

Houston comes off one of its best performances of the season in a 123-93 win over the Washington Wizards last Tuesday.

McGrady had 34 points on 64 percent shooting to lead Houston. He made all three free throws, went 3-of-9 on 3-pointers and had nine assists. McGrady hadn't shot better than 42 percent in the last five games, but was 14-of-22 against one of the NBA's worst defenses.

Houston shot 59.5 percent in its largest margin of victory this season and the second-highest point total.

Seattle, meanwhile, has allowed opponents to shoot 50 percent from the field in its skid, which follows a five-game winning streak.

The SuperSonics lost 117-110 to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.

Seattle, though, is enjoying a strong season, holding a 10-game lead over the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Northwest Division. With two more wins, the SuperSonics will match their total from last season.

A seven-year veteran at 25, Lewis finally earned his first All-Star appearance after helping the Sonics to the NBA's fourth-best record. He is averaging 20.4 points, a career-best, and 5.5 rebounds _ but his biggest improvements may have come defensively.

``Rashard has worked very hard to become a better defender,'' Sonics coach Nate McMillan said. ``That's the one thing I really like, his effort on the defensive end of the floor. He's really making the effort.''

Seattle expects to have forward Danny Fortson back after he missed three straight games. Fortson, a key reserve, missed Wednesday's game because he flew to Pittsburgh to be with his ill grandmother. He was scheduled to return against Golden State after a two-game suspension for throwing a chair against the Sacramento Kings on Feb. 10.

Fortson is averaging 8.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in 17.7 rebounds per game.

if by rebounds he means minutes then those are actually some pretty monster numbers. project it to 35 minutes a game and that's 17 and 12. too bad he's so foul prone.

Ya, Fortson is a beast on the boards, but like you said, he is foul prone like nuts.
