Anyone here go the the all-star game viewing party at Yao's restaurant? I saw it on the news tonight. Some of the powerdancers were there. Look like a very cool place.

Ok, I know somebody has checked this place out by now. It's been open for at least 2 hours!

I was in Denver over the weekend - not for the All Star game, and flew back on a 4:30 pm Rocky Mountain Time Zone flight. Flew first class - I wasn't paying, and who sat next to me, Yao's parents. I was wondering why they were leaving at that time (it's a 2:30 flight, so I got home in time to watch the second half), and now I know - had to be at the restaurant for the big opening. I didn't bother them...they looked tired, but a girl did ask for Yao's dad's autograph. They are really tall.

My brother-in-law is there eating right now. I told him to call me when he finished. He said there was a 30 minute wait, that was at around 1:30.

My brother-in-law just called. Here's his 2 cent review:

According to him the portions are "really small". Said the food is "ok". It's sort of PF Changs style, not really traditional Chinese. He would know because he is Tiawanese. Nice atmosphere.

30 minutes wait for a table? or for food to be served?

If he had to wait for 30 minutes to get a table, I cannot believe nobody has written a review here.

to people who complain about small dishes: research shows typical dishs in a restaurant in US have twice the food you need for one meal. So eat less!

I probably will get bashed by all Houstonians.

    No.
And shoes are required so you wouldn't be welcome there.

What's up with Austin? Are they in denial. They don't realize their true potential. Fricken carrot munchers.

I just ate there tonight...little pricey...peking duck for $34? They're also still working out the bugs...fire alarm went off several times tonight. And it took a long a** time to get our food. Otherwise, decent location, cool environment, and pretty good food. I can't wait to watch Rockets games on those big screens!:)

$34 is a bit high, but it is meant for 2 persons at least, right? Don't tell me you ate the whole duck by yourself.

Good food takes long to cook, too bad.

Wouldn't mainland Chinese food be a bit different from Taiwanese food? But I see your point, its probably fusion food.
