So it turns out after all the speculating that Patty was gay and then wasn't? I didn't see the whole episode. Who saw it coming? Cuz I sure didn't!
i read about this a couple months ago and it eluded to this fact, but im not watching anymore simpsons because they haven't had a good one for a loooooong time.
Weak, they'd been playing at that for years. Makes me glad, glad I tell you, that I studied for my mid term instead. Speaking of which...
If you don't mind, for those of us who didn't have time to watch, go ahead and tell us what happened...
spoiler - Springfield legalized gay marriage to boost tourism and Homer began performing ceremonies for cash. Patty was going to marry an LPGA golfer but did not when whe found out he was secretly a man. The end.
Agreed. Some of the mid 90's episodes were f'n amazing. For example: - Homer goes back to college (featuring the nerds) - Homer throws a BBQ bash (you don't win friends with salad) - Burns selling the nuclear plant to the Germans - Homer goes on a NASA mission - Bart, Milhouse, and Nelson go to Knoxville during spring break.
I get tired of people saying there haven't been any good eps in the more recent seasons. I'll name a few from 2001 and on. Trilogy or Error- The events of one day shown from 3 different perspectives; Homer & Marge, Lisa, and Bart: Homer gets his thumb cut off, Lisa is late for school and has to turn in her grammar correcting robot, Bart has to go undercover to expose Fat Tony's illegal firework smuggling ring. All 3 stories are connected. Sweets and Sour Marge- Marge gets sugar Banned. Homer teams with Apu, Mr. Burns, and Count Fudgula to smuggle sugar in. Weekend at Burnsies - Homer destroys a Scarecrow, making him master of a flock of crows. He pisses them off and they peck his eyes, so he gets prescribed mar1juana and gets addicted. The Great Louse Detective- Somebody is trying to kill Homer. Sideshow Bob is brought in to figure out who it is. Turns out Frank Grimes Jr. is looking for revenge for his dad. I'm Spelling As Fast As I Can- This is where Homer and others follow the Krusty Rib sandwhich around like dead heads. I, (Annoyed Grunt)-Bot- Homer builds Bart a robot for battle bots. The Robot is just Homer in a suit. Fraudcast News- Burns gets trapped under a rock slide. Everybody thinks he's dead, but he slithers his way through the cracks and lives off of insects and . He's upset when he finds out that none of the media outlets said good things about him. He buys up all the local media so that they can say good things about him.
the gay episode though was crap not because of the gay marriage wasn't interesting, attention-getting, fun to watch whatever negative adjectives you want to use just sucked. have enjoyed the other eps this season though.
i'm typically one of those people (and i say that as someone who has the simpson's tied as my favorite show ever). i've probably watched like 1 or 2 episodes in the past 2 years and had already been declining before then. and while it feels like forever since it's been consistently good, they did throw some really good ones in there over the recent years. some of those you mentioned were really good. my favorite semi-recent one has to be when krusty has a daughter and he's trying to get back her violin from Fat Tony. that whole episode was gold. but still, the decline has been pretty bad and the fact they keep stringing it along is kinda sad. still doesn't take away from the genius of the middle 7 or 8 years.
For those of you who say you haven't watched in years because the shows are no longer good.... How do you know if you haven't watched? It's just like those who like to say SNL sucks but never watch. Yeah you might see a bad one here or there but you have to watch consistently to make a valid judgement.
i thought they actually started to drop off a bit before then, but i definitely agree that the show has been worth very little since 2000. ATHF!
Did anyone watch Robot Chicken last night? I only watched the first 5 minutes or so, but the Transformers' PSA re: prostate cancer was freaking classic.
I was gonna start a thread, but I wasn't sure how many people were interested. It's really fast paced though, they just shoot right through the sketches, I can barely remember what happened. The Transformers thing was definately an instant classic. "We destroyed their energon cubes and only 50 innocent humans got killed, that's a new record." And they're smacking eachother with towels in a locker room, hilarious. I also enjoyed the Rachel Leigh Cook "this is your brain on heroin" psa. She went absolutely nuts. It's also cool that she provided her own voice for that. The tv outtakes was awesome as well. They had Capt. Kirk getting his nuts cut in the doors to the Enterprise's bridge and then they showed bloopers of the Cylons from Battle Star Galactica. Near the end they have a Cylon slowly walking towards a banana peel and you think, "man, how corny." But before he gets there a wrecking ball slams him through a wall.
