How old are you?? For the longest time I was about 6'0 and 150 but now I am a SLIM 187 -197. Age catches up to you fast after college. Mark
Buying designer jeans for guys ruins the entire point of wearing jeans. They serve a utility purpose, not a fashion one. If I want to dress up, I'm wearing slacks.
Damn, when I read that you ripped them during a gig, I was imagining some cool David Lee Roth style scissor-kicks during your bass solos. Don't you have roadies to haul that heavy stuff for you yet?
This has a lot to do how much you make. To someone who is making a couple hundred gs, 100 bucks is nothing, but to someone who is like me who doesn't make a boatload, I would never spend 100 on a pair of jeans. Mark
$100 slacks? You bet, all the time. I own several pair. $100 jeans? Queer as a three dollar bill. Only gay men spend that much on a freaking pair of jeans!
I disagree. Even Oprah said she gets pissed when someone tries to sell her a $50 Tshirt... err or so my WIFE tells me.
I never understood how some people pay a butt load of money for jeans that look worn out. I just don't get it. I wear 505's which are reasonably priced.
getting out of college this summer. I sure do hope my metablolism slows down, though not too much. As much as I like the idea of having a little more meat on me, I don't want to have a beer belly and be fat. I.E. don't want to be the next Mulder
I bought a pair of Old Navy blue jeans before I met my last girlfriend in November of 2000. Up until a couple of months ago, I wore them two or three times a week without any problems. Now that there are some holes at the knees, I've semi-retired them...at least for when I go out...most of the time. That four year investment cost me $20. I've spent close to $100 on the five pairs of jeans that are in my closet. And I got laid this morning (since apparently that has something to do with this).
Yeah, if I could find someone dumb enough to want to haul my equipment but smart enough to know how to set it up for $50 a show, I'd be one happy bass player.
This is from rote memorization: Shrink to fit and a button-fly too Levi's 501 Blue Shrink to fit any personal pair A little loose here and a little tight there We're so blue (We got the bluuuuueess) So blue (The 501 bluuuuuueeeesss) We're so blue Leviiiiii's 501 bluuuueeeessss YOWZA
Having a nice pair of jeans (like 7's which I love mainly b/c of the fit and styling of them) that cost a lot is not a way to pick up girls b/c of the cost. Its because they fit well and are stylish. Women appreciate style and if jeans fit well and are stylish, then women will notice that one is well dressed. Its not like "OMG! $150 dollar jeans! I'm a ho-bag and i'm going for that guy". Though some girls might, i think most appreciate style and a man that takes care of himself. I personally love when women are dressed stylish and take care of themselves, and I think a women that does this wants the same in a guy. I honestly really like the 7 jeans and though they are pricey are high quality and will last. Be weary of other designer jeans that are crap though like D&G etc. Though Emporio Armani ones are quite well fitting and will last. I've bought cheap jeans before and its obvious. They are not as soft and feel like cardboard putting them on. I'm not trying to be pretentious, its simply that i like style and comfort and am willing to pay a premium for them. Obviously not everyone is willing to.
i think if you are willing to pay for it, it doesn't make you gay. i personally have several pairs at varying lengths, shades and styles that ultimately tells me which ones i wear on what occasion. it's mostly divided into two categories: weekend jeans and going out jeans. my price range is from $20 (old navy) to $40 (lux from urban outfitters). i'm not brand specific either. whatever makes me have a good butt is what i get (i believe this is true for most females). i have a pair of abercrombie, pazo and bulldog. if they are pricey, i wait for a sale. this is a side note, but when you wash them, flip them inside out so the color stays longer. this is good esp for old navy or gap jeans since i find them to wear and fade the fastest.
You know the whole purpose of jeans is that they are cheap and long lasting, I'm still wearing the 30 dollar jean I bought 3 years ago.
Perhaps not gay...but misguided and metrosexual at best. Style, fashion, and being extremely well-dressed are just ways of trying to look rich. If you do it because you want to look that good, you are dancing around the closet, partner. If you do it because you know it makes you look rich and that helps you pull chicks, I wish you the best of luck. Just be forewarned that the chicks you pull like this are much more likely to be shallow and high-maintenance. Personally, if I were single I'd be more interested in cool chicks, who care a lot more about who you are than how pretty you made yourself look. Besides, if you are spending more on your jeans than your girl, just go ahead and turn in your man card rright now.
