Sportscenter can really make anyone look awful....

Amare scored 6 pts, and gets some highlights on Sportscenter...

Yao got 11 pts , 8 reb, 5 assists--and of course they show that dunk on him by Shaq....

By the way, am I the only one who has noticed that Stuart Scott absolutely hates Yao, he always has some smart ass comment on Yao everytime they show something bad on Yao (which is all the time)...

Dirk had 4 steals and 4 blocks. That's 8 possession changes (if the reflected blocks went to the own team). Sounds like decent defense to me (especially considering that defense is relaxed in the all-star game)...

Can't speak for everyone, but I would guess no.

    Its just an all-star game.

Anyone else notice the huge disparity in impact between Yao and Amare?

    I noticed this too...

It doesn't matter unfortunately-- I bet the media will still say Amare deserved to start over Yao--and probably next year too...

I think the reason we don't see those passes from Yao anymore is that JVG calls a set play on almost every possession. There's not a lot of room for clever little passes that aren't scripted.

Did anyone notice? It's been talked about nonstop for the entire thread.

Trust me. Any time Amare has a poor showing, people on this board will notice.

Any time Yao has a poor showing, some people on this board will notice and keep it as evidence for Yao's inferiority

The difference is Yao plays for the Rockets. There is a reason to care how well Yao plays. His play determines how successful the Rockets are.

Amare has nothing to do with the Rockets. Who cares how well or how poorly he plays or how much media attention he gets? It has nothing to do with the Rockets.

Those that are so concerned with how well Amare plays just reek of insecurity and jealousy. Do you think Suns fans waste their time worrying about how Yao plays? I bet they couldn't give a rat's ass how Yao is playing.

you are aware that there was One fan who said he thought yao sucked, he just said it 4 times. But that is just one fan in a thread. So i'm not sure the suns fan care that much about amare.

Fair is fair--pretty much everyone in the media (ESPN,SI , local sportswriters) said that Amare should have started over Yao--

The fact that Amare did not play as well as Yao is fair game to talk about in a Rox board..

You totally hit the nail on the head. There's a lot of hate floating around Amare for no other reason than the fact that he's had a better season than Yao. At this point it's crazy to not give him his props for elevating his game. Yes Nash does make him look good. But Amare HAS IMPROVED his range and jumpshot. And he still attacks the rim with amazing ferocity. That is a very worthwhile trait in the NBA. Not everyone has that kind of determination. His defense and rebounding could use some work, but everybody has faults that they can improve on. I don't see the point in constantly trying to tear this guy down.

I love Yao and I'm happy to have him on the Rockets. I wouldn't trade him for Amare because I think Yao has it in him to be something special. But at the same time, I give my props to Amare. He's obviously worked really hard to get better.

Because alot of Yao's diehard fans despise Amare over the whole ROY (something he had no control over) and I think they constantly want to discredit him for whatever reason (s).

As a Rocket fan, there is no doubt I take Yao over Amare every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Yao, on his own, changes the way defenses play us, and that counts for far more than the stats Amare puts up.

However, Amare is still a very good player, even without Nash. Nash has turned him into a great player, and thats why he (nash) is probably deserving of the NBA MVP so far this year.
