the alternate will be grey. not shiny silver. can anyone photoshop a LIGHT GREY jersey with red lines and numbers/letters?
I think the Black alternate design looks awesome! I dont care about "Houston" being on the front all that much but I know Houstonians do. So with that said it probably SHOULD say "Houston" on the front. The Black and Red accents uniform is a good idea. The Grey uniform idea wouldnt be bad as long as it doesnt look like the Mavs trash bags one from last year. The Spurs have a silver alternate that looks pretty good. It is shiny silver but doesnt have any "black mixed in with the silver" which the Mavs ones did and thus didnt look good on camera. The Spurs shiny silver alternates arent too bad. Black and Red would rule. And keep this in mind. Alternate uniforms are made so the team can SELL that merchandise to the fans. If you are a little kid, which jersey are YOU going to want to buy? I am thinking the cool black and red one.
When the Rockets do the crab races @ Toyota Cener they have crabs wearin 4 diffrent unis White Red(current home) Red Silver (current road) then... Black and Silver Nave and Silver Black and silver is clean
Shedding some light on this subject...... Starting next season, the Rockets can comission an alternate uniform but....... Accroding to the NBA Properties guide for 2005-06, they wont have one next season. Uniform additions are changes listed as followed...... Indiana will get a completely new uniform set. Cleveland, Detroit, Denver, Milwaukee and Sacramento will all get alternate uniforms. Boston was to have there Green/Black alternate set drop this year but that has been pushed back. My gut belief is.......The Rockets alternate will be a dazzle-thread Black and red set and say Houston to provide a little uniqueness from the curent home and away set to push up the sales a bit. Smoothie's idea of a Grey Dryfit (non-shiny) set is an interesting one, but I think its one that wont work as the dull grey that is produced looks like a dingy white form afar or on TV. Want an Example, see the NFL Champ Pats grey Alternates.....
Tigereye, when it comes to "uniform info" you are the man. Good stuff. Interesting that Denver and Cleveland has alternates coming out next year since their new unis came out the same year as ours. I guess we are a little slow on the draw there.
First off Deuce, thanks for the props.....I appreciate it. Secondly, the Rockets are deliberately waiting for the 06-07 season to release the alternate for a reason. The CBA is up after this season as many of you are aware of. If things don’t fall together between Hunter and Stern, there may be another lockout shortened season as we had a few years back or gulp.....even worse. (see NHL) Why take the time and plan this alternate set out in this situation. When this thing is created, I'm sure the Rockets will want an entire season's worth of opportunities to show there work off and generate merchandise sales, not half a season. I guess this old adage applies to this situation perfectly......timing is everything. Some teams are jumping the gun, hoping there is a full schedule played next season. Some teams are more willing to play it safe, like the Rockets, Bobcats, Magic and Knicks...... As for that fore mentioned possible Lock Out situation, I think both parties will look at the NHL's precarious financial situation and they way they mishandled every negotiation and learn form the NHL's mistakes, thus striking a deal relatively quick this summer. The NBA realizes one thing for sure; The league's current momentum generated by such future stars as LeBron, Amare, and Yao is to large to be killed off by a senseless lockout. Therefore, I believe we will have a full schedule played next season.
Well done. Me likes I would like to see a black & silver as well. I would do it but I wouldn't be able to post it.
I like the black and red the black on the black is just too weird and Gray and white looks spurish but good job mixing it up
I was told by Tim that the Rockets did not want to compete with themselves for jersey sales during the same year, pertaining to the Houston 05-06 NBA ALL Star jersey and 05-06 Houston Rockets ALT jersey. The Houston Rockets ALT jersey would be released 06-07.
