Eddie represented the loss of 3 first round picks, Smith cost the T Wolves 5 I think (1 later restored by the NBA).
Do you know how hard it is for me to bite my tongue in this KG lovefest? I'm here. Been checking in daily like always. Just haven't had much to post about in this forum recently. I pick my battles wisely due to the fact I'm outnumbered ~10,000 to 1.
Is that why he refused to sign for $17,000,000 a year and the Wolves were forced to pay around $22,000,000 a year for his first contract extension?
The man undoubtedly has heart, however... There is a clear double-standard in the sports media, which showers KG with love ALL the time, whether he is winning or losing. KG is a great individual talent, but having been in the league for this long now, and still now winning and CONSISTENTLY falling short of expectations in Minnesota, it is time to assign some blame to this guy for not winning year in and year out. When T-Mac was in Orlando and carrying a consistently crappy team to the playoffs (except obviously for last season, which was the only exception), he is still being called a person who has never won and gets criticism all the time. However, when KG has always had a better team than T-Mac, and still does not win or live up to expectations, he is always being mentioned as an "MVP" candidate almost every single year! So lets see: T-Mac carries a worthless team to the playoffs 3 years in a row (yet only remembered for last season, while people conveniently forget that his team played so well early on that Doc Rivers was named "Coach of the Year" in Orlando), and yet he gets slammed by most sports writers for last year. Compare this to KG's team falling short every single time, and yet KG being in the "MVP" talk despite his shortcomings. I think the NBA definitely has its own "favorite players" list, and they usually operate based on hype rather than reality. But that is just my opinion.
He posts on the Nugs board I post on. He's pretty busy with work and the 10,000,000 message boards he posts on -- the boardwhore.
tigermission1, KG plays in the tough tough west while TMac played in the WNBA - east. That certainly did not help TMac's case when compared to KG.
This should show you how fortunate we are. So many years and KG can't even be teamed up with another all-star. Houston is fortunate to have t-mac and yao. I'm glad we're not KG. I'd rather trade in a few years of mediocrity for a real chance at a championship instead of how many 1st round losses? Boggles the mind they can't find a way to get a 2nd star to play with KG. Cassell was awesome last year but age is catching up with him.
yes, but the Rockets lucked out by having Francis act like a baby on draft day and force a trade ..with Franics we had the extra assets to bring in Tmac to play with Yao (which covers up the EG debacle) Minny, never got a star player fall into their lap BTW- KG has mad game... I have liked his since he first entered the league ... there are too few all around polished players in the league these days
I am not comparing T-Mac to KG, by the way. I am just trying to show that the sports media has "favorite sons", and KG is at the top of that list among NBA players: always praised, never blamed for ALL his shortcomings.
KG had a few all stars and or former all stars Sam ME Cant Feed Family and some others have come close.. I love KG's game and I think he is a tremendous talent and enjoy watching his games. He has been surrounded by some pretty good players (Wally, THudson) but that team still cant get it done w/ KG as the focal point. J
you gotta give it to KG cuz he's a phenomenal player and he want to win pretty bad. but don't you guys remember when he clocked that one fool Rickert in the face during practice?
When he was, what, 20? Is that why he took a declining pay cut for his next contract, risking furthur charges of tampering from the league, for a chance at signing free agents?
they did have another all-star with him but his dumb a$$ didn't want to play second fiddle. The self proclaimed best PG in the league right now...
Matt Maloney brought the T-Wolves to their collective knees, and they have never been the same since.
I wonder how much a role did KG's contract extension ruin it. With the KG/Starbury core, they would've pulled out of the 1st round years ago.
Is this the same Starbury who's never made it out of the first round of the playoffs, and who's currently leading the crappy Knicks to the bottom of the worst division in basketball?
