There's no Rockets game, and this one seems like its going to be entertaining, so it will have to cure my b-ball fix for the next few days. I'm actually rooting for Dallas... I just can't bring myself to root for a team (and coach) as full of themselves as Phoenix is right now.
I have to agree with you on that one even though I want all the help we can get to land the 4th spot. D'Antoni is a surefire a-hole.
Phoenix will be exposed in the playoffs just like every other team that likes to run-and-gun and play no defense.
Stoudamire. He has great D. I'm sure he'll shut down the lane. Oh, and D'Atonio can stick an italian bread stick up his D' antoni. what can i say...some sh1`t sound funny when you had a few
With all this running going on it looks like JJ needs one of them electric chairs that they have at the grocery stores just to get up and down the floor... all of his shots have been short...
I know. Ryan Bowen could do the gay two step tango right through the lane on his ass. But oh no... this is stewart scott 'booyah that was a boodukada dunk by da kid' but the mavs win again. scott again' "but give that fella his starting spot in the A- game, he straight flushing on folks~ booyah!"
WOW, you would think with all that power the Suns have to get into the paint they would, they are just tossing up UGLY longballs and it's killing them... Stupid mistakes are gonna be this teams downfall..
Damn, these two teams play no defense at all, look how many back door plays they run. This just makes you appreciate on how much the Rockets is taking pride in playing defense.
Well, when it became a half-court game in the 4th quarter, Phoenix folded like a cheap suit. I really didn't see D'antoni do one iota of coaching, which is pretty much what we all expected (Steve Nash runs the team entirely when they're on the court). Dallas is playing pretty solid... and compared to Phoenix, they actually seem like a pretty physical team (but, of course we know that's just because they're relatively less softer). But, back to the main point... Phoenix is a pretty easy team to handle when they solely have to go to the half-court offense... and that will be their undoing in the playoffs (no matter how much they try and believe that they'll be able to run then too.... see the SI artcile from a few weeks ago, where D'antoni is convinced that they'll be fine in the playoffs). EDIT: D'antoni finally drew up a play in the 4th quarter, since he took out Nash... and it was for a Stoudamire 3 (when they didn't even really need a 3).
WOW, all we have to do is hang around till the 4th and both of these teams shoot themselfs in the foot... I love how STUPID both these teams are, (DIRK tossing a halfcourt pass to run out the clock) After watching these two play I really feel lucky that we dont turn the ball over like last year....
Phoneix is dead last in the league in defense in the paint, and defense overall. So much for the great D from Amare.
Yeah, Dirk not only disappeared late in the game on the offensive end, and made quite a few dumb mistakes in D.
Phoenix is still the team that would scare me the most to face in the playoffs. Definitely not a team we would match up well against - much like the uptempo Mavs teams the past couple years when they still had Nash that we always sucked against. I'd much rather face the Spurs, even though they're clearly the better overall team. I didnt think so a couple weeks ago but Dallas could make a serious run at the finals this year. They can play a fast paced game, and then slow it down to a halfcourt game and play some D when they need to...great game by them tonight, especially considering it was an off-shooting night for Dirk. -Nick-
Didnt watch the game.. only reading the box score. All i see is this guy Clavin Booth, who i think how unbelieveable still in the league, dunked at all wills. Who is guarding him??? The GREAT Amare???
Phoenix is a good regular season team that will get punked down in the playoffs. In this day & age, there's no such thing as a team that can rely on simply outscoring their opponent anymore. There are too many good defensive teams out that can slow Phoenix down and take them out of their element. In close games, there HAS to be players willing to bust their balls on both ends of the floor and gut games out. You HAVE to have players capable of making defensive stops when it counts the most. I don't see this in this Phoenix team. As a Rockets fan, am I scared of them? Nope. Granted, we don't particularly matchup well against good 3 pt shooting teams but you all saw what happened the 1st time we played them. They had NO inside game at all. Yao, as much as people don't like to admit, is a force down low based on his presence alone. Ask Amare Stoudemire about that. The same Amare Stoudemire that scored one basket the entire game when Yao was playing him. Phoenix was getting no points inside the paint. The only reason they won is they shot an unheard of percentage from the 3 pt line. It sucks, but it happens sometimes. The question is: can they do that for an entire series? If it comes down to them shooting the lights out EVERY game against a good defensive team like us, I like my chances.
i'd be scared of the Suns until I beat 'em. Keep in mind, despite their running n gunning offense, they do have quality players who can make high % shots in the paint. They might lack a go to man down the stretch, but they're a very very balanced team with improving bench. With the exception of the spurs and mavs, not many teams can keep up with 'em. As far as playoff, I'd bet they'll at least breeze thru the 1st round. The rockets can beat the Suns, but just gotta play a better perimeter d and not try to outgun them.
