What are other comon video codecs out there? I have Xvid, and Divx. I am trying to play a video but I can only hear the sound and the necesary codec isn't on my pc. Also, I don't know which codec was used, since it didn't say.
www.videohelp.com for all your video related questions. Be judicious when installing these bundled codecs - they can cause problems.
Look for the K-Lite codec pack for most of the widely used codecs. If you have a slower computer, like a Pentium 3 slower than a gig, try vlc player version 0.7.1. It works surprisingly well without a hit in performance. If performance isn't a problem, Windows Media Classic is a good all around program and the codec pack above has the option to install it. Windows Media Player, Real Media Player, and Quicktime are trash. Real Player Alternative allows you to rid Real Media Player once and for all.
Ups....i hope I catch you before you install the codec pack whillynilly... Those packs are nice to have...but if you install them with no regard to how they work together...you are asking for trouble.. videohelp.com http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=VideoInspector http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=GSpot what is the extension of the file you are tryin to use?
Just downloaded the program 2K, (video inspector). I can' seem to recomend a codec for the video. It does allow me to download something for the audio. Quick Time really wants to play it....which sucks. I only g3et teh audio and no video.
Do you know how to force a certain program to open it?(right-click and "open with") Quicktime is really bad about wanting to take over all video file associations, eventho it cant handle alot of them. tell ya what....if you dont get it figgered out by this evening(after 6)...meet me in chat and we'll see what we can do instead of playing post-tag in this thread....#clutchfans
VLC Player http://www.videolan.org/vlc pretty good player of all digital media. highly configurable....open source, allows you to encode, stream or just play just about every format you can find
