Just like the answer to everything in law school....

    it depends

    Multi club or single club?

Pay all up front or monthly?

Basic club or Super Sporty Spice 24?

The rates change so often there's only one way to know the price for sure.

    http://www.24hourfitness.com

find a club close to you.

    go have an annoying chat...

I have heard $880 for the 3 years and $100 renewal per year after that. Add a second for half price.

You gotta walk in there and negotiate like you don't want to get the membership at all... They are shark salesman and make used car guys look like saints.

Remember, walk out if you have to. Since you are going to get a multiple club membership anyway, visit different clubs. Don't give your info if you don't have to. Just ask for the prices.

Sorry forgot to add. I don't know exactly what my wife up front for multi year, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't 880 and I know she pays 50 a year after the first three years.

I know they have a sales quota they have to meet and I am almost positive they work on commission.

    Watch out!

Mulder is 100% correct. Absolutely correct.

I went into the Katy location (last year) and was completely turned off. They get you into a side room and put on the hustle. If you demur at one deal, they flip the page (it's all in a binder) to the next. Demur on the next, they flip to another deal. Their job is to keep talking and not let you leave.

Don't be shy. Just go in there and say you're interested in a membership. But don't go for their first offer. "Um, I don't know if I'm willing to spend that, but thanks" will get you to hear quite a few different deals.

If you have disposable income (the place won't be "cheap"), if you know you're not going to be moving (and thus get reamed on the contract), the place is worth it for the eye candy (a good workout is important, sure, but you gotta have fringe benefits).

But I found an alternate gym, paying considerably less and getting everything I would anyway from 24 Hour Fitness. Well, almost everything. The cheesy Protein Drink area I can live without anyway.

be very afraid of a three year deal with them.

we signed up for the 4 year deal for 5 members. it was $500 per member which was a great price.

however; as of feb 28th they are closing down all the 24 hour fitness locations in Idaho and we are out of luck (and money).

Yikes! All of their locations? What happened?

Still, I don't think you have to worry if you live in the Houston area. They've got a ton of clubs here.

yeah that is what i paid 4 years ago and still renew it.

I have the All - Sport membership that allows me to go into all the gyms up to Sport level and play basketball.

The only one higher is the Super Sport which is basically the old Q work out places that is made for richer posh people that want the advantage of free work out towels and bit more amenities....not really worth it in my opinion.

I looked at joing about a year ago and I didnt like there sales tactics. I ended up joining the YMCA, its nothing fancy but I get to workout and play hoops. I pay $38 a month with no contract and while its not fancy its clean and open 7 days a week

Depends on which location you goto and which salesperson is trying to get you to join.

Personally I think I got a fair deal at:

$800 up front - including 5 free training sessions, multi-locations, $50/year renewal rate.

Like others said, shop around different 24 Hour locations for the best price (even play them against each other if you have to)

Whatever you do, do not fall for those specials they advertise. They have many hidden restrictions and fees.

    Just my 0.02
