Davis is old and has a large contract that ends this year, but I still think his toughness would compliment Yao in the frontcourt. A straight-up MoT trade for Dale trade probably wouldn't work, but is there a trade package that would make both sides happy?

I mentioned a Dale Davis trade in a thread of mine about a week ago. Mo and Gaines for Davis works.

The question is can Davis give this team what Spoon can't? I'm not sure. I think Spoon has the same type of game, and age, without the height.

Though it would be nice to have two additions like Davis along with D. Anderson to strengthen the teams depth and give a variety of player options for the coach to have.

Mo is a better player at this point, but the expiring contract makes him attractive. He's getting just over 4 rebounds in 15 minutes a night...not too bad. Better rebounder than Howard, much tougher. I've always liked him since his days in Indiana.

Don't see Golden State dealing him though. They'll be trying to save all the money they can...especially with that contract Fisher got.

Why would Golden State want to take on MoT's contract?? After dealing Robinson, Mullins came out and said they did it because they were trying to offload some salary....

We would GIVE MoBong away if we could. But since we can't, anyone in the world with an expiring contract will do.

Yeah. But I think we should go for the D. Anderson deal with Mo.

We are one sore foot away from having to see a whole lot of Barret and Bowen. So I hope the Rockets will make that deal.

When I said 'can Davis give the Rockets what Spoon can't' I was thinking of trading Spoon for him. Sorry I should have made myself clear.

Dale at 80% of what he used to be...is still a great role player for one year. Then he's gone, and we've freed up 10 million to help us get Stromile....or Kidd.
I'd give up a 1 to get them to take Taylor.

I wish we could trade Mo, but at this point it seems doubtful. An expiring contract would be a benefit for the team. Even better If we got the added benefit of a backup player to give Sura or Howard some rest. We need them both for a playoff run.

I agree that Mo Taylor is a better player than Davis. I think he is a better player than Howard on offense generally. Howard is doing a fine job as of late.

Mo is history for this team at this point-financial issues not withstanding.

He will not be played and should be traded if possible.

I have given up on anyone trading for him........

His perceived stock is too low...

I'd give up MoT, Gaines, plus our #1 for the expiring contract of Davis. Being enough below the luxury tax threshold to sign a MLE player is a better investment, I think, than a mid to lower first round pick. But we cannot pick up a $6 million per year MLE player this summer (after the new labor deal is worked out), if we still have MoT, if we also want to re-sign Mutombo for another year. And after next summer, Yao's paycheck more than doubles.

We are bargaining from a weak position with Taylor. We have to sweeten the deal to get rid of him. It will help us to get rid of that contract. We may suffer a little in the deal short term, but will benefit from his exit.

Many will complain about an old player like Davis, but we need to make the deal.... You cannot trade a mule for a racehorse...
