This is a list of contracts that will expire after NEXT year (05-06).

    Weatherspoon: $6,353,200
    Wesley: $4,950,000
    Ward: $2,040,000

That’s $13,343,200 worth of contracts out there. We might want to sign Wesley for a couple more years, but I really doubt it, since he’s already 35, and retirement is in his face.

There are many things one can do with expiring contracts. I am thinking we can trade these contracts for an over-paid defensive minded rebounding power forward. Guess who comes in mind?

Here is what we should tell Weisbra next year: We are still grateful that you traded T-mac to us. We believe we owe you a big favor. We understand Cato’s atrocious contract is killing your franchise. To repay you, we are willing to alleviate your burden by giving your all our expired contracts for Cato. All you need to do is to give us one more second round pick…

    I don't know about Ward, didn't he sign a 3 year deal?

    Third year is TEAM option.

Cato's contract expires 05/06 as well.

You forgot that Yao's rookie contract expires as well (05/06) so there goes any idea of having some room for maneuvering.

Then add Yao to the list, man, we will have $20 millions worth of expiring contract...

    jk...

Anyway, why is the fact that Yao's contract's expiring eliminate the possibility of maneuvering? We will probably give him a max extension this summer. What does that have to do with those three contracts? We can still send them off and get something valuable in return, right?
