Is anyone else watching these people with COKE BOTTLE classes hold the ballots up to the light and turn it over and over sideways and lengthwise? Four counties that voted heavily for Gore are being hand counted. It is said that the Canvas committee who has the final word is democratic. And of course, the judge that will rule on the Bush charge about NOT allowing hand counts is a Democrat also. Appointed by Clinton. I guess, this is a symbol of the right wing conspiracy as Hillary once called it, right? The loud roars you hear outside is the other countries throughout the world laughing at our OBVIOUS bias. ------------------ "Her Box Started Buzzing Ever Since She Heard The CRÜE"
This may come as a surprise, but most other countries can't figure out why we would even have G.W. on the ballot, let alone elect him to office.
This might surprise you, but I dont care if other countries dont like our leader. However, I DO care that we are looking like we are a divided country. Whichever president that wins this election, it will be tainted presidency. ------------------ "Her Box Started Buzzing Ever Since She Heard The CRÜE"
In case you haven't noticed, we ARE a divided country. If you don't care what other countries think, what difference does it make if they see us as divided as well? That is what freedom is all about - the ability to express ourselves. If we are divided over a candidate, so be it. That just means we are free to choose and that is a good thing. I'd far prefer that to the alternative. ------------------ Save Our Rockets and Comets SaveOurRockets.com
Geez... I am being surrounded by democrats that see nothing wrong going on. You can NOT tell a persons INTENT by looking at a ballot held up to the light. Put them in the machine, and FAIRLY let the machine count the vote. But if you are letting a Democratic canvas committee judge on the recount, then that is surely wrong. Once again, all you guys are saying 'Lets be fair. Every vote counts'. All and good, but why not hand count the entire state? I will tell you why, because he would have lost. Hey, I am not naive. Gore will end up the president, but he shouldnt thank the american people for it, he should thank his lawyers. ------------------ "Her Box Started Buzzing Ever Since She Heard The CRÜE"
"If You Can Read This You Must Be Republican". Jeff, do you think people holding up signs like this on national television is good for the country? Well let me tell you that many people think this way due to what's going on right now. I'd say that's a little more than being divided over a candidate. I must say that it's a damn funny sign, though. ------------------ People like to slam Bush's education record, but at least Texans know how to punch holes.
I am surprised that my democratic friends cant be honest for a minute here. Do you truly believe that the hand counting we are seeing on TV is fair? Three democrats and one republican are the final judges. Please tell me, how can you decide the Leader of the free world on a voters INTENT? Just listen to the people of Palm Beach. "I meant to vote for Al Gore, but I might have voted for Buchanan.. I just dont know" That is what most said. I am all for being fair. So why not have ALL the counties hand count? There was over 100,000 ballots thrown out state wide. Redo them. Hey, what about some other state? Redo it. GOre wants to win SOOOO badly that even if the judge wont allow the hand count, they arent done. He lost the election in Florida. He lost the recount in Florida. Add the absentee votes to those and that is the REAL winner. ------------------ "Her Box Started Buzzing Ever Since She Heard The CRÜE"
DUDE: I wasn't talking about fairness, just the view from the outside. I am NOT a democrat and I certainly want a fair recount. I was just discussing the idea that being divided is bad for the country. FREAK: I think it is funny too. So what, though. Of course we are divided. Is it just now that we are all able to see it. It is no different than "It's A Child, Not A Choice" or any other conservative or liberal sign you can think of. We are a nation with great freedom. From time to time (remember the 60's?), we disagree as a nation. It is part of our natural evolution as a people. If we did not have this type of discourse, we would not be free. These are the same growing pains we've seen throughout our country's history. It is no more difficult and, in some cases, just as painful. It is part of being a democracy. As long as we hold ourselves up as the shining example of freedom and democracy, we are going to find oursleves humbled from time to time in front of the rest of the world. It is a learning process and it is good for us. ------------------ Save Our Rockets and Comets SaveOurRockets.com
We don't know that Gore lost the recount. We won't know who won or lost until all the absentee ballots are tallied and Florida turns in its official ballot count. And the absentee ballots have until Nov. 17 to reach the state. So, at this point, Bush's preparations to take over the White House are still premature. When the official count is released by Florida, if Bush has won, then I'm all for him taking his rightful place in office. Until that point, however, it's still an undecided race and Bush's calls for Gore to concede are unwarranted.
Rascal, I Totally agree with you about the absentee ballots. But according to the AP Bush has a lead in the recount of 327 votes. In the original count he was up 1784. That is what I am talking about. Anyway, halfway through the hand counting they changed the rules. LOL Now they have to redo the ones they already did. People said Texas was full of stupid people, I beg to differ.. I think they all live in Florida and work for the Elections office! LOL ------------------ "Her Box Started Buzzing Ever Since She Heard The CRÜE"
Dude, if Dubuyuh was the one down by 300, with thousands of republican votes thrown out, you would support this recounting too. By the way, most other countries are probably happy all this is going on, because there is a good chance they will not have to deal with GW. ------------------ 2000-2001 Rockets Game Formulas: End of 1st quarter: "They're playing so well!" 2nd: "What a great game!" 3rd: "Theres no way they can lose now!" 4th: "What the ******* **** happened?!!" ZRB, Like I said before, I have no beef with a recount. I just dont like a hand recount in specific counties. If there was a manual recount in the whole state, that would be great. But I feel with it only being in Gores counties, he has an unfair advantage because his supporters votes will be counted, while Bush's supporters votes wont be. If you use a computer to recount ALL the votes, or use People to recount ALL the votes either would be great. But I just am not happy with the fact of 'targeted' hand counts. The reason I said Gore should thank his lawyers is because his lawyers were wise enough to ask for a count in those four Gore counties, while Bush's lawyers didnt ask for a manual recount, Even though in Duval county there are over 26,000 thrown out ballots. Seems like alot of people disagree with me, that is fine. My whole point is that Gore says he wants EVERYONE's vote to count the same. YET we are only hand counting the couties in which he is strong in. If everyones vote counted, we should count Everyones vote again. Thanks for the chance to explain myself. ------------------ "Her Box Started Buzzing Ever Since She Heard The CRÜE"
The counties with the recount are where there have been disputes over the ballots. That is the reason for the recounting. In other counties in Florida, there have been no problems with the ballots. That is why there has been no recounting there. Makes sense to me. ------------------ 2000-2001 Rockets Game Formulas: End of 1st quarter: "They're playing so well!" 2nd: "What a great game!" 3rd: "Theres no way they can lose now!" 4th: "What the ******* **** happened?!!" Actually, my friend, you are mistaken. Here is a link to a story. It is about a heavily PRO-Bush county that had 26,000 ballots thrown out. But you have not heard about them from the 'Let every vote count' Gore team. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/aponline/20001111/aponline130619_000.htm ------------------ "Her Box Started Buzzing Ever Since She Heard The CRÜE"
