Hey, that 20 minute Rockets playoff run video was absolutely breathtaking, the one with the U2 music playing in the background, that was such a wonderful time for this city!
man, sometimes i wish i was older so i could've seen dream from the very beginning and have been able to appreciate what i saw from about 92-96 even more. i grew up with it so i was so used to it that it didn't seem as extraordinary as it really was. i'm not sure what's better in that clip, watching all the moves and shots, or watching the blocks. baseline to baseline, few, if any, can claim to have been more dominant.
Im a big Olajuwon fan and Yao has some of his moves in the post like the turn around fadeaway. Hes just too slow to do some of the other moves! The shanghai shake was nice though. The only person i see thats close in doing things that Hakeem did is Garnett. Garnett is alot softer then Hakeem in the post though. Garnett scores, rebounds, assists, steals, and block shots. Something Hakeem did so well. Remember the quadrouple double he had! Someone needs to post those highlights! Shaq might be the most dominate center in history but Olajuwon was the most devastating center in History!
I woudl have to agree with you when you say he was the most devestating center in the history of the game. The things he used to do just left the other defenders helpless. They didn't know what was going to come next and they looked like fools. With Shaq you know his moves are pretty simple; the hook, the back in and dunk and that's basically it. He uses raw power to push you out and beat you. Hakeem just made fools out of every opponent there was and that just broke the confidence of half the centers out there.
yea you pretty much summed it up! I have a bunch of videos of Hakeem and i would watch the things he would do to the players out there. He regularly sees doubles and alot of triple teams. He would block your shot then steal it from you the fake you out then dunk on you! Even when you defended him tightly they way that i though ewing did to him he could still just turn around and fade away from 3 defenders! Thats some amazing stuff man! Im glad people out here still appreciate what he used to do! Thumbs Up on this Thread!
Oh i forgot! He would cross you up too! I think Olajuwon Crossed up more centers then anyone in History! Hands down! lol
I think I've got it. It's a ~18Mb file. See if this works: Hakeem Mix My favorite blocks were the one on KJ's attempted down and the one on Rod Strickland in the playoffs, and of course the one on John Starks at the 3-point line. I forgot about how he used to pick guards clean, then go the other way for a dunk. He could disrupt an opposing offense in the front court or the back court. The one game I've always wanted to see is Dream vs Sonics, when he scored 49 points, and snagged 25 rebounds. When I was a kid, I listened to the game on the radio and it sounded amazing. The newspaper accounts the next day reported Sonics coach Bernie Bickerstaff throwing double, triple, even quadruple teams at Hakeem and still not being able to stop him. Another game I want to see is Hakeem's quad-double game. I can't remember, did he achieve this feat twice?
note to all.....Mack's linky is a usendit, which we all know is only vaid for a certain number of downloads...dont bother reupping it...it is hosted permanently on a server....the link is in my most recent video thread http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=91295
he was credited with a quadruple-double one time and then had one assist taken away by the nba the next day so it was only a triple-double with 9 assists. the only thing i remember about the quad was he only scored 18 points in that game. an off night you could say.
A better version of a champion if you ask me. It was a thrill back then watching him play. Tomahawk all you want, picking guards clean @ 7' to finish with 2 pts, that's GREATNESS! Favorite pick, When Dream stole the ball off of AI when he was a rookie! Vintage!
WOW. Those videos do not even do him justice, but they come close. Hakeem was a much quicker, smoother version of Kevin Garnett, with unbelievable on the ball defense and an amazing weak side shot blocker. The dunk he had over that Hawks player was incredible, and the blocked shots on Strlickland and Kevin Johnson even more so. Definitely a rare one of a kind player.
I tried downloading TheReasonSF3's Dream mix from all sort of links in this BBS... but it seemed that all of them are not working anymore... can anyone be so kind to direct me to a link that is working.. thanks a mil...
