Those refs ought to be fined and/or suspended for missing that call. That wasn't even close to being a clean block.

Oh well, better them than us. :D

Actually, I've noticed that Jack Niess has blown calls a lot in his games he's reffed.... why the hell is he still out there?

He's not Bavetta, who seems to get better with age... and it wasn't like he was a "great" official when he was younger either.

Stern needs to personally get him to retire, or institute a 4 man crew for all his games.

The Amare call was a 50/50 judgement call... but this was deplorable...

Mobley went into ball hog mode for a long stretch (2nd, 3rd Q) when bibby, peja and webber were sitting. And although he was scoring, i think it hurt the team later in the game (when he dribbled off his foot, leading to a fast break layup)

Webber was big shotaphobic at the end of the game, peja seems quiet and sad.

    Dirk is very good

The Kings didn't get screwed on the previous one, but this time they did. Just like the Lakers/Rockets game last week, an obvious goaltending is missed late in the game, and I still think if the refs can't get their act together, they need another set of eyes on the floor somewhere watching for this.

Mark Cuban's right about the officiating not being as good as it can be. Speaking of which, what about that "dance" he did after his Mavs took the lead at the end. Hilarious stuff.

How the hell do you miss that? What the hell are the refs doing out there? And then the NBA fines the kings $30,000+ for questioning the call. Thats bull$hit. The league cant give the kings that game anymore, but should atleast forget the fines against those players and it would be a start.

These idiots get 6 figures for standing there and calling plays. Not just 1 but 3 of them! I know 10 year old kids who could have called that game better than the 3 idiots on the court.

If i was at that game, I would have made Detroit fans look like saints.

Yeah, he was actually on the court with that "dance". That should of been a tech or at least a delay of game.

You really think refs get 6 figures? I highly doubt that.

You would want the three referees taken off the court with sixty seconds left in the game, to be replaced with ten-year old children?

National Basketball Association (NBA) referees earn anywhere from $90,000 to $225,000.

These guys have to do alot more work than just calling the games. They have to do some kind of preparing before every game. Also they have to submit a detailed report of the calls they made in after the game.

I think he meant that as an exaggeration like saying even Ray Charles could see that was goadtending.

They definitely do get 6 figures salaries... I remember seeing a salary list for refs during their union negotiations...

I honestly used to think the NBA didn't really need 3 refs... just two really well-spaced experienced ones... but now, it looks like they really need 4.

NBA refereeing is honestly a bunch of BS. No other sport has all the quirky angles and egos to their officiating. And, when refs blow calls in other sports, there's always a chance for them to huddle together and get it right (whether it be a review in football, or simply them all getting together in baseball).

A lot of what they can do is limited by the fast pace of the NBA game... but when calls this blatantly obvious are blown... something has to be done.

Maybe the most veteran ones... but not the majority of them. IN fact today, it was Jack Niess (who may make that much... although he's never deserved it) and two younger guys.

Yeah, but thats why the NBA has 3 refs w/in 25 feet of each other so they dont miss these calls. But forget the hard calls that even us watching on tv dont realize until the replay is played. Instead they missed the most obvious call of the whole game. Thats inexcusable. If it was the 4th and the 12th seed playing in the game it might not be that bad. But 4th and 5th in the west, and after all this drama over an exact noncall a couple of days ago.

No starting is 90,000. The vets make around 200,000. Highest paid is about 250,000. And thats just for the regular season.
