Where my problem lies is the talk of The 19,000 ballots being thrown out being rare. When in 1996 15,000 ballots were thrown out in the SAME county due to double punching. AND in 1996 Buchanan got more votes there then he did now. AND this year there is a Growing number of Independant and Reform registered Voters in the county. Just because we see it on TV doesnt make it true. We see the whiners that wanted Gore to win. Why havent we seen any Republican on TV on the streets? We also see Jesse Jackson, whom I despise and am starting to dislike him even more, playing up to the cameras. AND Actually BREEDING hatred in that area. Jackson is NOTHING like Martin Luther King. No problem with Recounting the votes. BUt a BIG problem with the talk of Gore winning the popular vote, with Gore talking as they won Florida but were screwed over, etc.. If Bush wins the election, there is NO doubt that the BS, and divisiveness being shown by Gore and the Dems of Florida will HURT the country. We will have 50% of the people that NO matter what Bush does will hate him. If Gore would just go with the Votes then Bush would have a chance to win some of those people over. But thanks to Gore, that aint gonna happen. I think there is enough gray area in the voting practices of Florida to fight over. Gore has been waiting for this all his life, I don't blame him for wanting to fight it. If he lost 55-45 w/o any controversies, he would give up. Heck, when he was losing by a few thousand votes he conceded. I think the leader of the free world position is something you HAVE to fight over if you think you've been cheated. If Gore loses this recount and there is no tainted evidence (19,00 votes thrown out), then he would congratulate Bush and tell the country to get behind him. Jeff, What I am saying is this... Whoever wins Florida WINS the White House. If Gore wins the COUNTED votes, plus the absentee then YES he wins, Same with Bush. If he wins the Counted votes, plus the absentee then he wins. My whole thinking, and I do not think I am alone, is that IF Bush wins the Florida vote count AND Gore complains about the racism or bad ballot or whatever they are complaining about then it DOES hurt the country. You cant honestly say that it wont Undermine Bush if he gets elected. If he gets it he will be under AMAZING pressure, and intense scrutiny. Now, if Gore wins then Bush should concede. RIght on the TOP of the ballot it says something like 'MARK ONLY ONE CHOICE. IF TWO ARE CHOSEN BALLOT WILL BE DISREGARDED' The BEST thing for America, is for WHOEVER that loses the vote, plus the absentee concede. But if GORE keeps this up, you just watch as Bush will want to recount three or four smaller states that were incredibly close. Jeff, As mean as this might sound, the people that voted for TWO people DISCOUNTED their own ballot when they did that. On the ballot is says PICK ONE. Because someone messed up on their ballot doesnt mean a conspiracy, like Jackson is saying, or that we should let them revote. When you vote for federal office, you can have up to two SPOILED ballots. That means that if you screwed up you can get another one, and then Another one. For the people to think that their vote would count by Punching TWO candidates is just insane.
