I like J Ho and see no need to move him. His offensive rebounding improvement has been noticeable. The big fella's playing better, too. Why mess with the win streak?

I do hope we can jettison Mo T; if we can't, well, shoot... keep him on the IL, I guess, as (darned expensive) insurance. I wonder in my dark heart of darkness whether the Rox are just biding their time (or even prodding Mo) with this extended IL charade until Mo turns positive on some drug test-- I mean, how many strikes till you're out of your contract?

Good to hear that we are trying to get Kurt Thomas. I had just started a thread about this a few days ago where I got criticized heavily for saying we should try to get Kurt Thomas.

After the Moochie trade, I'd be shocked if Isiah Thomas was stupid enough the trade with us ever again. We gave him MOOCHIE, for Chrissakes.

Well I wasn't one of them! I like him he is a nice solid player that can rebound the ball and play D. Im just afraid moving Howard wouldn't be the right thing to do right now. If there willing to take MoT im all for it THOUGH he has 4 more years left on his contract and Mo only as 2!

That is possibly the funniest thing I've read all season.

It's time to make a run with what we got. This group has earned it. After the playoffs, we can re-evaluate. But what is there to really improve on right now. We are a machine.

I still like the DA for Mo deal - with Strickland breaking a hip last night, we still need a good backup (and Tmac needs to shed some minutes as well)

Can anyone confirm what Jerome Williams' contract situation is? I think he would be a fantastic sub for Howard - he's quick, a good defender and rebounder and has lots of energy. He's exactly the kind of defender that would make Lamar Odom or Stromile Swift have to work alot harder for their points.

so we are trying to get KT....thats great. but of course the knicks won't give him up for just Jho. instead they make a counter offer of JYD for Jho.

now i know we are winning, and i know everyone on the team loves ho, he is even growing on some of us, but lets be realistic here. tell me why CD didn't take the deal and run? JYD is one of the most energetic players in the L. he rebounds on both ends. he plays great D. unless CD thinks he has a serious shot at landing KT i don't see why we don't have JYD right now.

IMO the holdup may be about our pick. CD has been holding on to that thing all season ......

Because JYD is not a starting PF. He started last year for a pretty bad Bulls team, and the year before for a 24 win Toronto team. He's better suited to come off the bench.

He is what he is. An energy player. I wouldn't mind having him, but probably not at the cost of Howard.

He's got 2 more years at 6+ mill then an option year. Honestly, not much better than MoT's contract. If MoT played more like he did last year, I'd rather have him.

According to Patricia, the contracts look like this:

Kurt Thomas: $30 million over 4 years. Expires 2009. Makes slight over $8 million in his last season.

Jerome Williams: $40.8 million over 7 years, last year being a team and player option. Expires 2007. In other words, could be cut after next season. Makes almost $6.5 million in his last year.

Mo Taylor: $48.75 million over 6 years. Expires 2007. Makes $9.75 million in his last year.

Juwan Howard: $36.9 million over 6 years. Player option on last year (which he will certainly exercise). Expires 2008. Makes $7.3755 million in his last year.

My goal would be to to have all these forwards off the books asap. To that end, do not trade for Kurt Thomas. If you must keep one of Mo or Juwan, keep Mo. If you can swap Juwan for Jerome Williams, do it. I'd much prefer him to Kurt Thomas.

Why is Jerome Williams on the trade block in NY?

sure he started for some bad teams last year and the year before. so did howard. JYD was averaging 24 minutes, 6pts, 7rebs. howard averages 24 minutes 9pts, 5rebs.

we would give up 3 points, but gain 2 rebounds, and a whole lot more defense. we would also get younger and a shorter contract.

Our power foward of the future will most likely be whoever we draft or sign this summer. Not Kurt Thomas, Juwan Howard, or Mo Taylor. There's no point in trading for a player with a long contract like Kurt Thomas, just so he can sit on the bench for the next 5 seasons. I'd rather have Jerome Williams, because his contract is shorter.
