Any suggestions on where some really good, reasonably priced Cajun food is? I'm a BIG fan of Pappadeaux, but it's been played out, so I'm on the hunt for another place. I know RMT will have a good suggestion.
You can't go wrong with Ragin Cajun on Richmond. The original Treebeards downtown on Travis is fantastic but only open for lunch. I have always enjoyed Bayou City Seafood and Pasta on Richmond.
Ya know, one would think that nothing is further from that truth, but I'll tell ya... Oh, maybe I'll just go to a different Pappadeaux location.
My complaint about Ragin Cajun, at least the ONE time I've been there is that the freid crawfish are tiny, and I didn't like their batter. How's the etouffee there?
They changed names to the Mardi Gras Grill. They say the food is exactly the same but it seems just a little different to me. There is a place on West Little York at Antoine called "cajun town" that was started by a guy who was a chef at Pappadeaux. The food is the same but the prices are much better.
Pappadeaux. Seriously...cajun food is my favorite food, and they do it very, very well. I'd put their seafood gumbo up against any in New Orleans. It is my favorite restaurant, in any category.
My favorites are the original Ragin' Cajun on Richmond inside the loop and a place called Zydeco downtown. Both very authentic.
