Would you trade MoT for Cliff Robinson??

As the NBA's trade deadline approaches, few players are drawing more interest than Golden State's Clifford Robinson.

    Clifford Robinson

    2004-2005 SEASON STATISTICS

League sources told ESPN.com on Wednesday night that "more than five teams" are considering bids for Robinson and that the 38-year-old is "almost certain" to be moved by the Warriors before the Feb. 24 deadline.

Robinson, at this stage of his career, is a defensive specialist who can guard big men of various sizes and still occupy defenses occasionally with his shooting range. Minnesota's Kevin Garnett once described Robinson as "hands-down the best defensive player in the league."

After unexpectedly emerging as the Warriors' starting center for much of the season, the 6-foot-10, 240-pounder also holds appeal in the trade market because his salary is reasonable ($5.3 million) and because his contract expires at season's end.

New Jersey has shown interest in Robinson for weeks, even before the Nets began to climb in the Atlantic Division standings behind a rejuvenated Vince Carter. It remains to be seen if the Nets are prepared to add another center after claiming Elden Campbell on waivers, but sources say they'll face competition from a clutch of Western Conference clubs if they do continue to pursue Robinson.

San Antonio, Houston and Minnesota are also among the interested, according to sources. The Spurs have been particularly active in the search for frontcourt depth, as they await word on a possible comeback by Karl Malone. (end story)

What I'm wondering is, given the oppportunity, how much would you give up for a lineup of:

    Wesley
    Sura
    TMac
    Robinson
    Yao ?

    Not much.

    He's a half a season rental.

2nd rounder, TE, Spoon, maybe taking on Najera's contract are the only kind of things I'd like to see offered.

If they want Mo for Rob + Najera, then go for it.

Hell no. He's on his last leg and he hasn't done much for the Warriors when given the chance.

But I can say the same for MoT.

Uncle Cliffy is old and unproductive. Mo's young and unproductive. I'll take the younger guy every time in that scenario.

I'd take a pack of gum for Mo T....in fact, it would be fitting to send his underacheiving a$$ to a place where disappointing players go to graze

    that would really depend.....

If what Crisco posted is possible salary-wise....Cliff and Najera for Mo

then I say yes....we get rid of deadweight MoT, get Cliffy for a half season and let his contract expire....and keep Najera.

Najera is a pesky defender....a high energy hustle player...isnt much good from outside....but with the guys we have...he could be a asset.

    and the kicker??

we get rid of Mo's contract....

Do that in a heartbeat. What is Mo giving us now? Nothing. If we can get rid of his contract then do it.

Are these the same guys that were just saying a day or two ago that all we needed was someone that could play defense on the tall and lankies of the NBA, hell I'd trade straight up MoT for Robinson just to get rid of his contract! To be able to get rid of a guy that doesn't play, and even when he does play he's overpaid and doesn't play defense (and as long as he's "getting paid" he doesn't seem to care), and then to get a guy that could help our team and give us some cap space,...thank you Jesus, that would be a blessing. Najera would be a nice addition to make it work (I haven't checked it either) and I wish we wouldn't have traded him away in the first place (he was a steal in the 2nd round), the guy's a hustler and a rebounder, and could be an enforcer to help Yao out.

I had mentioned in my thread about a Howard to Golden State trade that we should look at Mo/Gaines for Dale Davis. How about this trade? Not sure GS would go for it.

    Mo
    Gaines
    Weatherspoon

    For

    Dale Davis
    Clifford Robinson
    Eduardo Najera

We get two contracts that come off at the end of the season.

Oh man, that's B-E-A-utiful! I'd do it in a heartbeat. You get 2 contracts that expire at years end, a guy who can shoot and guard the tall and lankies, and a banger that can rebound and support Yao (finally,....Cato, come back please,...)

If we can do this, we may have the money for Swift in the offseason.

Oh c'mon, you wouldn't trade MoT for Cato straight up if we had the chance? Hell yeah I would. With Cato starting at the 4 we'd have someone (overpaid like MoT true, but at least he would help the team too) who could bang down low and help Yao out, he hustled his a#$ off for us last year just to get traded for TMac, I never was a huge fan, but at this point, he's just what we need, a rebounding defender (if only he wasn't so overpaid). Howard off the bench to add a scoring spark with TMac or Yao out would only help the team.

No way would GS do that deal. They would get two players with bloated contracts that go beyond this season. Also, all three of the Rocket players getting traded are getting just about zero playing time right now.
