Me and a couple of buddies of mine are pretty much booked to hit Europe up this Spring Break. I have a cousin who lives in London, who will be sheltering us for our stay, but my questions arise here: 1. What to do in London? 2. What's the best way to get outta UK, and into the rest of Europe? 3. What to do when your in rest of Europe? 4. Methods, tips, tricks, travel advice? Let me know what you think. PS: I'm goin to Amsterdam. Yep. You know what that means. But, how to get there? Where to go. Oh so many questions.
I'd personally wait until the summer when the weather is nicer. March is going to be pretty cold in some of those places.
we took the chunnel to get to paris*. then "eurail"ed around the rest of europe. doesn't sound like you're going to italy but go to rome and go to St. Peter's Basilica if for no other reason than to see how big it is. it is just unbelievably big and just seems to grow the farther you walk in. an amazing building. so hit up St. Peter's for a little repentance after you get through in amsterdam. *i don't remember anything about the chunnel ride b/c my ears hadn't popped after the plane trip and just kept getting worse and worse to the point i was thinking i was gonna have to go to a hospital when i hit paris. finally, mercifully, they just gently popped near the end of the trip and i could enjoy life again. it was an ominous beginning to my european experience but luckily the rest of it went well (well except for getting lost in the rain getting to our place in venice).
To get out of London you can fly or take the channel tunnel. They are not that far apart price wise so id check on both options. First thing id do is check with student travel to price flights and eurorail costs. My school went through STA travel and they gave us some nice discounts. One big tip is if you dont have an internal frame backpack try and borrow one. Its much better than dealing with luggage while your traveling around. It makes it much easier to hop of the train for a little while to do something for a few hours. How long will you be over there? If its only a week i wouldnt venture too far from where your are staying (like Italy) since you dont want to kill your whole trip on the trains. An little less mainstreem city you may want to check out is Interlaken, Switzerland. Its up in the Alps and has a ton of sports activities. And its also a popular stop for students backpacking across europe so their tends to be a good party crowd. However it may be a bit too cold if your going in early spring.
London is great, i have been there about 4 times. I love it. You can get to the rest of europe by plain the tunnel or boat. I'm not sure what the cheapest is, but i think the plain is the best option(if you have the money). about the rest of europe, it all depents on what you want to see. Paris is always beautiful, i personally prefer Barcelona. how long do you want to stay in europe, and wich country's do you want to see. OK about amsterdam. I grew up in a town 20 minutes by car from amsterdam, and m parents still live there. What do you want to know about it?
A week isn't long. Could you imagine someone saying they were going to the US for spring break, were staying in Maine and wanted to see Florida and California? Anyway, Amsterdam isn't too far away. Here are some flight times from London: http://travel.guardian.co.uk/cheapflights/story/0,8945,1121567,00.html Remember that you have to tack on taxi and airport security ... and Ibiza's only 2 1/2 hours.
oh so spring break is a week? ok that is not to long, i do not think you should go to Barcelona then. Londen is great Amsterdam is pretty close to it. And after Amsterdam you should go to paris.(by train). If i were you i wouldn't stay in amsterdam to long the other city's are more beautiful
I live in Prague, As far as a week to do europe? theres no real way of seeing anything, I mean your gonna probably spend a coulpe days in london, a couple days in amsterdam, and by the way, travel cuts 295a Regent Street in London will get you an under 26 pass or since your a student card, and you can get a pretty cheap flight to amsterdam, I'm thinking like 20-30 pound stay in hostels, smoke your weed, get a hooker but I dont think youll really have time or need to go anywhere other then that, if so, go to Prague! The beer is cheap and great! Just keep a good head on your shoulders and youll have a good time, not to mention bust the bank in western europe, god london at 2 bucks a pound I can only imagine
In March go to Italy or Spain.....much warmer than the rest of EU at that time of year. However, if I had one week only, I would make SURE to get to Amsterdam. DD
A week is not very long so just stay around london and area and make a trip to Amsterdam for a couple of days. Use RyanAir or Go (I believe thats another SWest type airline, quicker and cheaper than trains)... You will most likely spend all your money in london and Amsterdam
She is very cute...I'd hit it...It's funny, she's the chick in this Disney movie coming up about ice skating... Jeff, so...you have personal experience with the legalized pot and prostitution, not that there's anything wrong with that...
so are mushrooms. watch out for the prostitutes. most of the ones i saw in the windows of the red light district looked like trannies (which is ok, if youre into that type of thing)
it kinda is. but i will also say that you dutch are hella engineers. the simple fact that no one dies on the streets, given all the trams, cars, bicycles, etc. is impressive.
In the end of March i'm heading for Paris for about ten days, then in April some friends and I are swooping south to Madrid and Barcelona for a week. Its right around Semana Santa (Saints Week), so it should be WILD. I personally don't like London much. Its a bit drab and not as much a party place. My favorite place is Spain as it has people from all over europe and its a party place. I'm not really going to see sights, i'm looking to have fun. Best thing is to spend more time in fewer cities than try to see many cities in fewer days.
